Got me a Trojan 16 ser.# 163223 supposed to be IC and Full what distance do you shoot at how big a target to figure choke on 16? It's got issues like most ol guns but I really like it sure is lite. It's a 1913 gun, is there any way to find how many Trojans were made before it? I believe they made a few in 1912. ch

Calvin, for you to find an answer to your question, you'll need to go back page by page in your Serialization and Identification book and count Trojans. And then, you know there are missing numbers in the ID book.

Congratulations on the Trojan 16. The quail gun I carry most of the time is a VH 16.

I would use the same set up for a 16 gauge shooting an ounce of lead.

Calvin, I have 161555; a little "older" than yours? It was the last of a batch of about a dozen Trojan 16s. I haven't patterned it for an overall count, just a kill zone count at 35 and 50 yards; probably mod & full at 28". I use spreaders when in the coverts. Like yours, a nice light, sweet handling gun.

I have a nice 26" Trojan 16 that my brother-in-law swears is his (but he hasn't paid me for it yet so it's still mine and resides in my safe) and it carries like an 0-frame and is choked about IC/FULL. A great little upland gun. 202066 made the same year that my Dad was born.

yall like that 16.. as you get older a person tends to go to a lighter gun...as they say a 16 handles like a 20 ga and shoots like a 12 ga... congratulations on a fine gun... charlie

......Oh alright, yes they do. I've seen them cower trembling. The noise of your shotgun blasts bothers them. :whistle:

Calvin: I think you will love that little 16 or maybe your kids will claim it. I use a VH 16 O frame for Idaho quail and doesn"t wear you out walking. Mine is ser. 109146 Thomas L. Benson Sr.

I'll slill be carring the ol 8 lb 8 0z 10 a lot but now Jett can shoot a double with the barrels horizontal:) Going to try to get some shells rolled up today so I can shoot it. A quick way to tell what choke you have is to place cardboard at shoulder level 10 yards from the muzzel. This will also tell how the gun shoots for you ie: high, low etc.
6" circle is 70% at 40 yards
9" Full Choke
12" Modified
15" to 19" Improved Cylinder

Think if means 70% percent of shot in 30 inch circle at 40 yards. Russ its a Jostam Hy-Gun Recoil-pad. At least its kind of neet since it don't have the original I suppose it thumped him a little. I'm shooting 7/8oz 2 1/2 long load from a helpful member and its pretty respectable. Put a golden phesant in it and I bet you would know it.
