After a few years hiatus - dang, I'll try to be there... I've got this little DHE 20 I've been itching to try... As for food? Hmmm - let's see if I can't bring along a home made sourdough bread - maple, walnut with cranberry... And - now that I've posted this - I'll show Jen, who will know I've made plans....

Chris....

As I'm in NH - I'd be willing to shoot your Parkers for ya' if you send them up? Just a neighborly gesture, of course??!!!

Let me know - and in the meantime - I'll wait alongside the mailbox so I don't miss your shipment??

2022 was cancelled due to poor weather. 2023 was good; no snow and not too cold! Hoping for the same for this time around.

This is Great news!!

Dorothy and I will be there and I'll make some venison stew with the deer I took on opening morning.

Dorothy will be unhappy though because I promised to have her grandfather's LC Smith in working order but I don't know who in New England works on them...

You already tried that with the turn of the century Parker Show Gun... I've learned my lesson... BTW - seriously...

The AAHE has two factory forend's -one factory splinter, and the factory beavertail. I'm not sure both have been seen together - but, I can tell you the story behind them and why there are two factory forends...

John D.- I can't afford to lend you my Parkers as they would eventually make their way home knowing they are saddled with me - a mediocre shot on a good day! (: Right now all my Parkers think I'm Wyatt Earp. It's because I talk nice to them.

You guys are killing me. It's a little shoot like what Pete Lester has planned Jan 1 that makes the life of a side-by-sider so much fun. I mean the food alone would get me there! If it's real cold I hope you have some steaming hot chocolate. Of course venison stew will warm you up too. And some clam chowder! Yes, that's what I would bring along with some White Pheasant Chili. Perhaps some year! Please post some photos...of the crew gathered there AND the food.

John Dunkle
12-03-2023, 09:04 PM
You will be missed Chris - and I'm pretty sure if you sent your Parkers up, and let me (and well, probably Dean too?) shoot them - they'd be glad to be back with you after the event? You see, we'd make your Wyatt Earp reputation remain solidly intact...

Too - you bet... I've taken a few images in my time, so I'll make an effort to post some good ones - both of the guns and the food... It would be our pleasure for those of us who are able to attend for those who can not make it... But....

Maybe next year for ya'??

Yes John, I’ve seen the AAHE Double Trap in its case with both forends. For such a large looking gun (34” varrels) it is surprisingly light and agile.

I was lucky enough to find a 10 gauge Parker today.
I’m planning on bringing it up to Major Waldrons shoot on new years days.
I was hoping to be able to purchase some low pressure 10 gauge shell from one of the members in order to try out the gun.
I’m not sure of the grade but I think it looks like a G grade.

We’ll miss you Bob.

I may have to miss it too…
My sweet Gracie is in the last days or even just hours of her life.
I rushed her to the 24/7 emergency vet on Christmas Eve and after 3-4 hours of tests the doctor told me Gracie has late-stage pancreatic cancer that has metasticized to her liver. My options were to leave her there to be euthanized or bring her home to die. I opted to bring her home….

Dammit - she's only 9 1/2 and I thought she's be at least 14 when she passed on.

The 2024 New Year's Day Shoot was a success. The temps were in the mid to upper 20s, and while it started out overcast, the sun was out by late morning. I think we had a good turnout, and everyone did a fantastic job bringing an assortment of food. Numerous rounds of skeet and trap were shot throughout the morning.

1 - First round of trap
2 - Skeet
3 & 4 - Our lunch spread
5 - Bill Janelle and Russell Cleary shooting skeet

Final round of trap for the day:

1 - Bob Fabian
2 - Bob Lyons
3 - John Dunkle
4 - Pete Lester

We lucked out on the weather and I will second you on the food, we had a very nice and rather bountiful lunch. I will never tire of your Grandpa's trap gun which btw you shot very well, I had to use a 10 ga to tie you :) Your DHE 20 is a sweet little gun (but my Parker GHE 12ga Skeet Gun said, "hey watch this little bro"). I also liked Mark Kingsbury's high condition Lefever 16ga G grade as well. Congrats to Bob Lyons who brought his new to him Parker damascus GH 10ga and shot a short ten for the first time thanks to Scott Kittredge shotshell distributor Inc. If somebody didn't have a good time today it was their own fault. Thanks to all who came and Happy 2024, may it be a great year for everyone.

Lefever shotguns are special and the high grades are beautiful works of art. They really play well with Parkers in the gun cabinet. The more you learn about them the better the odds you will show up next year with one of your own. (PS. Sara might not have told you some of their special features, to name a couple you can turn an automatic safety off and make it a manual safety with the turn of a screw. Uncle Dan's design was rather brilliant, instead of a roll pin for the hinge it is a ball and socket, should it come loose from wear you can bring it back on face by turning another screw).

....I will never tire of your Grandpa's trap gun... Thanks Pete.... It just "fits me"? Much better when I first shot it back in '66 or so, I was 9 years old then, and hadn't filled out as much as Grandpa yet? I had a tough time even seeing the bird over those 34" Whitworths back then...?
....Your DHE 20 is a sweet little gun (but my Parker GHE 12ga Skeet Gun said, "hey watch this little bro")....:rotf: Yep, you spanked my little gun pretty hard in Skeet - BUT - Sara let it be known who was "King and Queen" of the Skeet field? And, well - buddy - it isn't "us". When I want lessons in skeet - I'm calling her.... Just sayin'.....
.....I also liked Mark Kingsbury's high condition Lefever 16ga G grade as well.. That is one sweet gun.... I wasn't a Lefever fan before today - but, well - I gotta say - I could be convinced... (Sara, bring those Raffle Tickets to Hausmans!!! ;) )
...Scott Kittredge shotshell distributor Inc.. Yep, I used two of his shells to round out my 25 on the last round of Trap... Ummm - Scott - I love ya' buddy - but next time, could you put just a couple pellets into your reloads??:rotf:
.....If somebody didn't have a good time today it was their own fault. Thanks to all who came and Happy 2024, may it be a great year for everyone. Actually - no Pete - thank you, Sara, Scott, Dan, Bob, Mark - well the list could gone on and on.... For a terrific wonderful start to 2024 after a particularly difficult year end to 2023....
