I just recently met this lovely lady and I think I'm in love. She's an O frame VHE 20 gauge straight grip stock (apparently cut at some point). Per the serialization book she left the factory with no saftey and 2 sets of barrels (32" and 28") that interestingly both started the process at 3lbs, 8oz. She appears to have been well loved and spent many days afield and/or at the range. The 28" barrels show more wear and the forend is noticeably larger and heavier. There are no records available but she has to have a great story to tell. If one of our members has a personal history with her I'd love to know it. Serial #190872.

*** I misspoke, The gun is not in the serialization book. I misinterpreted the seller description that indicated that the gun was a 2 barrel set. It appears that the 2nd set (28") is a later set of barrels.

I can see a Kansas covey rise in front out that nice gun.

Great find there Dan,

That one has to have a pretty special history.

Dang, that is nice! I just acquired a VH 0 frame 16 gauge 2 barrel set myself. Yours is a bit nicer

Mine is 26 1c/m and 28 m/f which suits my purposes well

Nice two barrel set. I once had a 28"/32" 20 DHE myself. Those long legged Parker small bores are the best!

She looks lovely Mills. Mine has her bumps an bruises too. I've become very fond of the well worn, honest looking guns that appear to have spent a good portion of their lives performing the functions they were created to do.

I've thumped a few pheasants with her and yesterday was my first opportunity to shoot some targets. Those 32" tubes swing beautifully.

Someone said if it is worn, that means it was a good gun for someone. I believe that is true

Thanks Mike, me too. The 32" tubes are choked .025 and .024. Target smashers.

Agreed Mills. Steve Parker said it very well re: these well worn beauties. "They look like someone really loved them."

Both sets of barrels, 28” and 32”, would be expected to be the same weight by design being a true two-barrel set. The gun should have identical handling characteristics with either set of barrels and that difference in the size of the forends probably fit perfectly into the intended handling characteristics.

Are there any Remington codes on the barrel flats?

That is a beauty! And it seems to have a desirable “trap comb” too.

Nice find Dan!

Thanks for that additional bit of information Dean. Yes definitely has the "Trap comb" I forgot to mention the 32" barrel chambers measure 2 7/8" and the 28" chambers measure 2 3/4" with a Galazan gauge. Here's the barrel flats.

What a great gun. Two barrel sets are wonderful, whether they come from the factory that way, or put together by an industrious owner. Most of mine are put together, but some are factory. My favorite is a GHE 16 with 3 sets of factory Damascus barrels, 24", 28", and 30". The gun letters as a 26" gun, so it was originally a 4 barrel set, with 3 sets factory installed later.

I remember seeing this gun in the first Guyette & Deeter auction. Seems to attract more attention now, then it did back in February.

I bought it in the fall G&D auction. Kind of a sleeper. I wasn’t overly excited about it but I’m really glad I bought it. She’s got some miles on her but nothing egregious. It feels as good in my hands as any gun I own.

My mistake, though September does seems like so long ago. I questioned the catalog write-up, stating 'original two barrel...'. The more bull nosed fore end appears much more Remington, as opposed to the slender, Meriden splinter, so I wondered if the second set was added by Remington.

That’s what I had noticed about the “larger” forend Edgar, and that’s why I asked about Remington codes on the barrel flats.

I don’t have the catalog at home but I think the add said “two barrel set” . Your question was perfect. As soon as I saw the Remington stamps I realized that the forend and stamps should have jumped out at me. Honestly, I hadn’t really looked the 2nd set of barrels over very closely. They have a small repaired bulge so I didn’t plan to shoot them until I have someone look them over. I did measure the BWT this week and the area of the repair was consistent with the area around it. They’re beefy barrels.

Thanks Edgar, That must be where I got the idea. :rotf::cool: At any rate, I’m very pleased with the purchase and anticipate that the gun will be with me until my kids have to worry about what to do with it.
