Just for grins I checked the weights of 5 16's four are 0 frame and one is a one frame all with 28 inch Damascuss, Twist or Bernard barrels and the largest gap in weight was only 3 oz.
A GHE 0 frame 3.6lbs, GH 0 frame 3.8 lbs, GH 0 frame 3.6 lbs Lifter 0 frame 3.6 lbs. The surprise is a CHE one frame Bernard which was the lightest at 3.5 lbs.

OK, what's your point? Most guns of the same gauge and style weigh about the same. Did we doubt that? My favorite Parker 16 has 5 1/2 pound barrels, but I'm a little strange about big guns.

Manufacture dates are from 1878 to 1903, different materials have different densities and perhaps methods of production evolve. I was surprised that the barrels on the one frame gun wern't heavier.

My 134XXX 16gauge VH has 28" barrels. The unstruck weight is 3-2 and the finished weight is 2-9. The gun weighs 5-14.

Best,

Mike

Mr. Murphy,

What are those barrel lengths? Frame size for that kinda of 16 ga barrel wt.
That sounds like a real shooting iron and a keeper. :)
