A friend bought a Parker 20 gauge Remington gun. It is Skeet configured, but marked Skeet In Skeet In.
Has anyone ever observed a Parker marked this way?

Not I Phil, that’s an odd one for sure.

Dean, Your 28ga Skeet gun is a Remington gun, correct? How is it marked?

I have not seen the barrel markings but have asked for a picture. I will share once I receive it.

Yes it is Edgar but it has no choke markings even though both PGCA and G&H letters both confirm it is a Skeet gun and not a ‘Skeet configured’ gun. The chokes are rt. .015” and l. .007”.

Phil, there are Parker skeet guns with Skeet In markings on both barrels. An example is the AHE .410 sold several years ago in Pennsylvania. I believe Dean may have some pictures of that gun.

So, one of us owns it. Great Parker, maybe the greatest. The Abercrombie ledger says Skeet In and Skeet Out, but the gun says Skeet In and Skeet In.

The family (sons?) of the man who owns it were at the annual meeting banquet… with the gun.

I was under the impression the actual owner , his son and daughter I think were with him as well as a grandson .

But to be totally honest I never looked at the gun . I started at the other end and saw John Davis's 4 frame 10 gauge Fred Kimble gun and I didn't go any further .

Yes Craig, now that you mention it I believe you’re correct.

It looks like they did a mill cut on original choke stamping; in front of skeet choke markings. Also Parker Skeet stamp had IN & Out under the Skeet stamp; not inline with the Skeet stamp. To me it looks like someone restamped the ckoke markings, not Parker.

Also, ser. # 242087= 1934. Has repair codes stamped: AK2= Part order barrel, not original assembly, 1941 --- PL3= Serviced June 1942.

Correct, stay tuned for the Winter 23 Parker Pages. I have reason to believe this little .410 will make a brief appearance :corn:

Interesting....

It had been back to Remington for service or repairs so who knows what may have been done there...

The serial number on the barrel flats pictured is not the serial number of the AHE .410. Did the gun get rebarrelled?

Dean Romig

No Bill they're two different guns.

Bill as sometimes happens. The post has taken on a discussion about the 410.
I posted a picture of the 20!gauge barrels and hope others will chime in on these markings.

Phil, Does that say the unstruck barrel weight was 4.3 and what’s the frame number on the lug?

Dean Romig

Looks like 4 lbs., 3 oz. to me too.

What is the barrel length?

You guys are right. I contacted the owner it is 4 3. 12 gauge not a 20. I should have noticed that weight and realized not a 20. Sorry for any confusion.

Bill Murphy

Yes, Phil, I don't think that the choke markings on the gun you pictured are normal Parker markings, but this is a Remington gun and they may be different.

The font of the letters isn’t the more common one we usually see on Remington Parkers.

Dean and I both own lettered skeet guns that do not have choke markings. Does anyone have a comment on that phenomenon?

And, as I recall, Dean's 28 skeet does not have choke markings, nor does mine. I asked for comments on the "no choke markings" feature.

Reggie, now you know that Dean was not messing with you. I am not messing with you either. My 28" 28 gauge skeet gun does not have any choke markings either. You'll have to take my word for it. However, there is a reason why my gun is not marked Skeet In and Skeet Out. It is bored cylinder and cylinder. I don't know why Dean's wasn't choke marked because his gun seems to be a legitimate Skeet In and Skeet Out gun.

That would be awesome to see. I haven't checked the books but it strikes me a potentially crazy rare. How about some pictures? My apologies. For some reason I read 16 gauge.
