After a couple of decades, some saving and selling a couple of guns, I was able to purchase an A1 Special. I am really impressed with the Gournet engraving on the gun. Both dogs bear a striking resemblance to dogs that I have or had. It has some nice wood as well. I had it out to the club today and it received a couple of compliments on how “pretty” it is.

Congrats Don, a beautiful gun for sure. Hope to see that one some day.

Thanks Randy. I will plan on bringing it to Hausman’s next June. Wish I was able to make the VGC this week but work has different plans for me. A few more years and retirement will free up my time so I can attend more events. Have a great time this week.

Wow. I counted ten five petal flowers in that engraving. Might be more.

Congrats. I have seen a few photos of that gun on his website. It is nice to be able to see more. It is beautiful.

Start talking Don! I see it's a 12g. Does it have 28" bbls?

Those comments you received referring to the gun as “pretty” don’t do it justice. Nothing short of spectacular. So nice that the engraving is reminiscent of the older guns…and so well done.

Mike,
It has 26” barrels choked IC and Mod. with good stock dimensions.

James,
I pulled her out of the safe and counted 14 five petal flowers and two additional 4 petal flowers in the barrel engraving.

Call me blind but I don't see any in the barrel wedge engraving.....

Dean,
A little blurry but this is what I was thinking was a flower

There are so many small details in the engraving like the fleur de lis at the base of the skeleton buttplate. Every time I look at it I see another detail. You can even see the Gournet signature in the engraving on edge banding near where the trigger meets the receiver. Double click the fourth picture to blow it up to see the signature.

Harry,
I know most don’t favor 26” right now but I rather enjoy an open choked 26” gun. Our sporting clays course seems to prefer it. Targets mostly in the 20-30 yard range in the woods. Great practice for grouse hunting if we only had some grouse to hunt around here.

I seemed to have gained a few 26” guns over time. This A1, a 28ga DHE repro and an original CHE. A while back the short barreled guns were what many collectors wanted. I wonder if that is why Parker Reproductions made so many with at least one set of 26” barrels.

I like short barrels for brush shooting. Harry can have the single trigger guns :)

Garry,
When it comes to hunting I prefer double triggers also. The sporting clays course doesn’t have those wild flushes so I am ok with a single trigger there. I wish my 28 ga repro had double triggers but it’s imp/mod chokes are so tight it doesn’t matter as much. Besides which finding a double trigger 28 ga repro is akin to finding Honus Wagner baseball card.

Donald, If I had a gun as nice as yours, I'd love a single trigger.

Thanks Garry. I think you picked up an AHE a couple of years back that this gun is engraved similar to other than it has two dogs on the floor plate where this gun has them on the sides.
