I shot a few times at an Izaac Walton gun club several years ago with Jeff Milliken. The club was located in either Maryland or Virginia. Anybody happen to know which and what the actual name of the club is?
P.S. Anybody talked to Jeff lately?

There’s one in Fairfax VA quite close to another shooting facility called Bull Run . Here’s a link to the place , https://wp.arlingtonfairfax-iwla.org/

Jeff's club was the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Izaak Walton League. They are temporarily closed to shotgun shooting because of shotfall issues, and also waiting for a permit to reclaim shot. Unfortunate for a club that has had shotgun shooting since the mid 1930s. I am a 63 year member of this club and am patiently waiting for some good news.

We used to shoot Sportsman Team Challenge matches at the Damascus, MD IWL. That is near Frederick, MD. Nice club. Gary Montgomery and Jerry Neal were two of the guys that set up the matches.

The National Capitol Gunclub used to be quite close to Damascus , I could be wrong but I think that was their original club location . Also think they’ve gone elsewhere now . Shot the North South skeet shoot there a couple times and shot the fall Westey Hogan trap shoot there several times .

The National Capital Skeet and Trap Club has not relocated, it is closed. The Damascus Izaak Walton League is a separate club and is still active. The North-South NSSA skeet shoot has relocated from National Capital to Damascus and is the oldest continuously held NSSA shoot in the country.

Some more detail: National Capital Skeet and Trap Club, Inc. NCSTC was established in approximately 1932 in Chevy Chase, Maryland and it was formerly named Montgomery Skeet Club until 1935, when it was renamed National Capital Skeet and Trap, Inc., and moved to Bethesda, Maryland.
In 1954, National Capital, a Maryland corporation, moved to 16700 Riffleford Road, Darnestown, Maryland, and operated a skeet and trap facility there. In 1979 the club allowed the MD DNR to purchase the land to incorporate the property into the Seneca Creek State Park Complex.
In October 2003, operations ceased in response to a threatened lawsuit by Potomac Riverkeepers, a local environmental group, citing shotfall(s) impacting a nearby stream protected under provisions of the Clean Water Act.
Negotiations with State, DNR and local officials dragged on to no avail and the facility was subsequently closed permanently in 2006. The property now functions as a stump disposal area for tree maintenence and arborist activities within the park.
