I am a new member and new owner of a mint two barrel set Repro DHE 20 ga. I have put maybe 200 rounds through it at the gun club. Unfortunatley, after a cold day I noticed 3 to 4 very small short scratches on the stock. The wood is fine, it just looks like a cat hit the finish with its paw. After some thought I realized my zipper on my vest had not been zipped up enough and must have been the culprit.

Is there a way rub some replacement finish on the stock to fill the small scratches, or should I chalk it up as my mark on the gun? If so, does anyone know what type of finish was used on Repros? Any techniques suggestions would be appreciated as well.

I plan to hunt with it so I know it is not the last ding I will get, but I was just wondering if there is an easy fix.

Joel, if you're going to hunt with it and shoot clays too and chase every little scratch and ding it gets you won't have much time for shooting fun. I hope you're ready for the "case color" to rub off leaving the frame a very nice bright silver in the 'high wear' areas.

Enjoy the gun and don't worry about the 'character' it gets from loving use.

You can try automotive polishing compound on finish, it might take out small scratches, just be careful.

Birchwood Casey's "Stock Sheen & Conditioner" is what I've used successfully for what you've described. Apply it with a soft cotton cloth and rub it out until the light scratches and handling marks disappear.

All good replies, but Dean is right..... And the case colors are the first to go, so enjoy the gun, it was meant to be shot. Eric
