I was able to identify the build date of 1892 for ser #74951, but am having trouble cross referencing the other numbers and letters. Pictures are attached, thanks for your assistance and input.

L=laminated steel. 5=5 pound, zero ounce unstruck barrel weight.

Barrel is 30”.

Thanks, any idea what the “c” stamp ant the “a” stamp on the other side indicates?

That is a very interesting gun. Looks like a thorough but careful cleaning is in order.

The serial number says it was made around 1892. The serial number 74951 is not in the serialization book, so we don't know its original configuration or grade for sure. I'd guess a Grade 0 due to the lack of any scroll engraving on the frame or locks. Apparently there are records to support a research letter, so you might want to order one to get a more complete picture. It's a nice, fairly late hammer gun.

The “C” has nothing to do with any feature of the gun or barrels, but rather it is the personal and identifiable stamp of a worker or contractor.

Yes, I the forend, just forgot to take a photo of it. I am away now but can post a pic of it next week.
