I purchased these parts a few months back, it came to me with everything except the butt stock.
I believe this would be a 0 Grade, due to no engraving and the Stub Twist barrels???
It would have been produced in 1875, and the barrels I’m looking to add are Plain Twist that are in the pictures.
I intend to have both sets of barrels which are 32”, refinished and then have Briley add tubes. The Plain Twist barrels are taking a good bit of effort to clean up as you can see in the pictures. This second set of barrels came with no extractor, so I’m currently having a small one man shop take care of that for me.

Both sets have pretty extensive internal pitting, so having them tubed to smaller gauges will be a good alternative in my opinion. It will not be a dainty lightweight sub gauge, but I’m excited to try it on the sporting clays course, time will tell

Then a new buttstock will be added and maybe new wood to replace the original forend which looks fairly rough.

I’d be surprised if that one doesn’t make it to Sanford next year

You're probably correct Craig,

Hopefully the Vintagers, the deciding factor could be how long Briley will need to have the barrels.

I was wondering what the deal was with those parts sitting in the booth at the NE.

Are you having a stock made or are you looking for an original replacement? I have a parts gun coming in that has decent wood on it.

Brian,

I do have a piece of wood in mind for this stock, but if you have an original, I would love to see it.
I’m torn between making this a straight stock, (English Stock) which it probably was, or a ball grip which I much prefer.
There was some things going on with this trigger guard and the bottom plate as you probably noted when you seen it at the NE shoot?

They both have been welded, I couldn’t understand why the bottom plate where the trigger slots are, would have been broken? And why the trigger guard was welded, unless it was a pistol grip and someone was trying to convert to straight grip?

I really should probably request a letter since the serailization book does not give the style of stock on this one.

Stan

PS. I meant to ask, is the parts gun a 12 gauge and would it possibly have the extractor along? If so I may check if my guy started on fabricating a new one. This gun is a 2 frame, thanks

Stan, the stock may have been broken there and even had the trigger guard and trigger plate bent and or broken… who knows.

HHmmm, is that the Men's section I hear you guy's talking about:shock:

I was reading the better part of last evening, learning what I could on the grades of these early hammer guns, I believe this gun would be from the Dollar grade era?

Stan, yes. It is a 12g lifter with straight grip. It should have the extractor in it. It is coming in tomorrow.

I talked with the gentleman who is making up an extractor for me and he has not started as of yet, if the extractor is a match on the gun you're receiving, that would be great.
Looking forward to seeing the stock also, measurements also if possible.

Thanks Brian,

Stan
