I have a 1 1/2 Frame VH that needs a new butt plate (with spur) - per dimensions I ordered a Galazan 1 frame as it seemed to be very close. Well, it is - it's just a hair bit too small (perhaps an 1/8" at any spot). The #2 frame seems considerably too big, particularly in length - does anyone know if it will fit a 1 1/2 frame???

Tom,
I recently ordered a Galazan's Trojan buttplate to replace an incorrect flat Dog's Head that was on a gun. $30 later (they were on sale) I also had a buttplate made of probably correct material, but it was 1/8" too short at the top. I did not want to plug and redrill holes to make it work so back it went. It was not the best looking piece either, but to their credit they gave a full refund.
I have used these buttplates for project guns with good luck. Some people may frown on them because obviously the originals were not plastic, but they can be easily molded to the stock once heated without worry of snapping them like hard rubber, and they are oversized so they can be made to fit.

If someone cringes at using these, sorry, but they help rescue junkers nicely.

Thanks for the reply - I am surprised a few more people haven't chimed in.
I checked out the link you provided - I just wish they offered dimensions with those butt plates.
I am probably going to repost in the main forum to try to get some more feedback.

I purchased the No. 2 plate for a 2 frame 12 Ga and with the larger butt and the new plate was oversized. I purchased the number 1 plate on a 1 1/2 frame 12 Ga with the smaller butt and it was oversized. Both had the spur, and the spur is also oversized. All screw holes lined up. They look great and unless you pluck it with your finger and hear that it is plastic instead of hard rubber, and most people cannot visually see the difference. Not 100% accurate, but a solution to finding one.

I am looking for a spured plate for a 3 frame. Are these oversized? I need 1 7/8 x 5 3/4

I may be wrong but I believe there were only three sizes for the buttplates, 0, 1, & 2; at least that is what they have today, and obviously the 3 frame would have a larger stock and probably use the size 2 buttplate. Call him for the dimensions. They do require considerable fitting to the stock.
