I saw comments on two decent DH12 ga guns that recently sold for under $2,000 and was wondering what "the boys" feel current values are for good shooters. I just sold a nice BH for $5,300 which I think was a real bargen but that is what I got for it. In DH guns what are 16ga ,20 ga &28ga selling for.??

From what I've heard and read the sub-gauge high grade and high condition guns are holding their own, however, I haven't bought or sold any myself recently so I have no first-hand experience.

I agree ,high grade(C +) high condition guns still bring all the money and do not appear to have softened in price. It seems D's have and a lot.

I agree with the 12 guage D's being on the reduced price list. But you hardly ever see any small bore D grades sell. If they are listed they are priced very high. There seems to be very few sales of these unless they are repro's. I guess that they never made a lot of 20's and smaller and that is why they are seldom for sale. Seems to be a few 16's for sale .

I guess I am upgrading. Selling lower grades to buy the higher grades coming on the market. Perhaps this is what is driving DH grades down. My shooting student and doublegun mentor Joe Wood got me interested in collecting old doubles in 2005. In my memory there were no AH, BH or CH small bores "available to the public".- even on the interent. Right now I can think of a CH and AH in 28 gauge and an AH in 20 gauge out on the net. There have been several XE Fox sixteens show up in the last few months. And several D grade Fox 12s are popping up.

My primary market place is the internet. Not a lot of high grade Parkers, Foxes, or Ithacas show up at local gun shows. Like none.

Other than one trip to Sandonna/Vintagers I have never been to a gunshow in the North or North East though.

The market place is driven by the same thing regardless of if it's a VH or AAH and that is CONDIOION. I cruise the web and see DH/DHE 20's from $5K-10K. There is a well known dealer with a BHE 20 for $30K and it's been on his web site for a while which considering the rareity of a straight stocked BHE 20 is surprising. I have seen a GHE 20 with an asking price of $20K in very high condition.

Just goes to show you there is something for everyone. I just wish I had a spare $30K:whistle:

I just paid 7K for a nice DH 70% original case color, 70% guard blue, barrels reblacked perfectly and wood has been properly refinished. Its very special...26" bright bores titanic, PG-DT-SF, very modern dementions 14 3/8, 2 3/8 drop at heal. O-frame and comes in at 5lbs 14oz. It is so light it scares me! Its very trim...thin in the wrist and stock. Gun has perfect balence center at the pin. I feel I paid dearly but not too mutch.... did not send it back! Found no flaws to fuss about! , bores never honed, choked .008/.014 I perchased this gun to use ...not a investment per say, that said we tend to pay a little more for a item we want. It will make a fine grouse getter...carry allot...shoot a little..(-: When I get back from vacation I will post pictures and send for a letter just for fun! thanks all SXS ohio....(-:
