Friends- I have had a Grade 4 10ga Lifter, SN 13,589 stolen from FedEx. The gun was being delivered by the FedEx driver to the recipient’s address when the driver forged the recipient’s signature and drove away with the gun. We have it all on video surveillance. FedEx is refusing to cooperate with the detective assigned to the case but that is a different story.
If the gun shows up at the Southern side by side or anywhere else, please let me know. I will gladly give a reward for its recovery.

Josh—so sorry to hear this. I recall you had a 5-E Ithaca single stolen last year! I can’t understand FedEx’s refusal to assist in this matter. A woke antigun corporation? Wish you luck my friend.

I presume the BATF and FBI might be interested in this blatant theft of a firearm, antique or not.

Dean - ATF’s only concern in the matter of a stolen firearm has been that the licensee has filed the appropriate paperwork. They did not assist in any way in the previous gun I had stolen at FedEx in Memphis. ATF will not do anything in this case because the gun was made prior to 1898.

The ATF are not our friends. Neither is fedex. I had an ATF agent stand in my store and tell me "I know you don't sell guns used in crimes. I don't care,a gun is a gun to us" As Josh said, all they care about is getting the paperwork done.

Josh, tell us about your experience with your insurance company in these two thefts. Maybe tell us the name of your insurance carrier.

that has been my experience in almost all government transactions. they don't care about right or wrong , common sense , or helping you in any way. just submit the correct form.

I don't know if people are paying attention, but being a criminal is no longer a bad thing to our law enforcement it would seem. I don't even want to get started on the nonsense going on in my home town of STL.
Josh, best of luck with this, it's a real shame that criminals are protected more then we are these days.

I had a local FFL tell me about a FedEx situation he recently had. This dealer works out of his house and sells many lines of new guns on the web. He also runs his day job from his home as well. He had a FedEx driver drop $38,000.00 worth of new Rizzini B. shotguns on the curb next to his trash cans he had set out for trash day. He wouldn't have known this if he hadn't had the surveillance camera system he has. He reviewed the video and saw that the driver signed the handheld scanner & drove off. He barely beat the trash truck to the guns; you can imagine what would have possibly happened if he hadn't.
Last week I had 8lb of 20/28 powder from Brownell's delivered by FedEX. This one was another first for me. Not only did the driver need to have me sign for it, he also needed I.D. from me and had to scan my I.D. into his handheld scanner.
Shipping guns has become a crap shoot, you never know what's going to happen. I'm thinking that there's a whole bunch of these drivers and others at these shipping companys who have taken the anti-gun stuff into their own form of activism or for personal profit knowing that the chances of getting caught or charged is slim to none.
Good luck on tracking down your gun Josh!!

I agree that shipping guns is getting harder who do you ship with? I had two guns stolen several years ago but not by shippers but an individual, lucky I got them back, a VH 28 ga and a D grade 12 hopefully Josh,s guns will show up somewhere and the theft and those accountable will be caught, Gary

Fedex will not respond to the Detective assigned to the case so they certainly won't talk to me.

As the Paying customer...are they not obligated to talk to you? If you have the drivers name....can you not press charges and have him arrested....unbelievable what this world has come to post Pandemic....nobody owes up to anything anymore....hope this turns out back in your favor Josh.

The more this type of thing goes on, the more I am willing to drive several hundred miles to make a non sanctioned purchase between myself and the buyer.

Since most Postmen UPS drivers, and Fed Ex drivers are not willing to ring the doorbell why would you expect them to participate in customer service or for that matter, honesty.

Agreed. I’ll be looking to pick up my first graded Parker this summer (DH). I’ve made peace with willing to drive far and wide.

To close this chapter of the stolen gun saga, my insurance company is paying out the claim. They stated that if the gun does resurface, I can buy it back from them now that they own it, which I would like to do. Please keep your eyes open for a Grade 4 10ga lifter in nice shape with this SN. Thank you all for your help and concern.

My recent FedEx experience was also less then desirable on a different venue. I'm building a home in rural Texas with driveway which has a long curve and as we were landscaping their driver decided he would cut the corner and drove across the new sod (laid 30 minutes earlier) and right into open French Drain trench. Now he's stuck and trying to power out of the trench. Area of the yard must be re-leveled, new sod and French Drain must be redone. FedEx refuses any responsibility!!!!! They are no longer welcome on my property!!!!!!!!

The delivery trucks in our area are operated by independent contractors. Their name is on the side of the truck. They control the local drivers. Perhaps you could turn the heat up on them?

Opps !double on John’s post. Posted mine anyway same advise.
Important point on Fed Ex. Most home package delivery is through contractors. Fed Ex does not employ the driver or own the truck. If it’s visible in the video look on the trucks side just behind the drivers door, actual owner is listed. That’s were I would look for settlement if Fed Ex refuses.
Odds are good insurance carrier is after the contracted trucks owner now. The don’t pay and forget about it.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that law enforcement paid as little attention as they did. Last time I checked, grand larceny was a felony.

As a retired Army officer and former Federal agent with DOJ and State Dept, I can
vouch for our changing enforcement policies that are top-down driven. The "new breed" of prosecutors are disgraceful in larger cities. Older agents are furious at current leadership. Both FEDEX and UPS are marginal in large urban areas.
I recently sold a pre-war Winchester Super Grade Model 70 to a Colorado hunter, and the
rifle sold mainly because I was headed to N. Mexico and could meet him. He had lost a rifle shipped a year before.. If it is critical-arrange guaranteed delivery. Insurance is mandatory. Caveat emptor -on both ends.
