Recovering from a surgery....read everything...twice....so thought I would share some pictures of a Reverend and his gun! This gun may have been shown before but the story goes.....Reverend orders a 2 barrel set but gets one set with mismatched barrels. Documentation from Roy Gunther at the end.

I'm very impressed with the condition of this gun - it is remarkable!

Looks to have been engraved by H. Gough.

What a wonderful gun. Has it taken any pheasants?

Wonderful gun and history. I am assuming it is yours. Speedy recovery from that surgery. Bird season will be here in a few months! Have another late January SD hunt planned.

Commander Roy Gunther was a Parker collector and historian and was one of the authors of "The Parker Story" and was one of the first researchers to examine and record the Remington Parker archives.

No pheasants yet Garry. My sherpa has not been available to tote it for me!

Dean:

Beautiful gun and some of best photos I have seen on here yet depicting so well a gun’s exceptional features.

Father Kearney looks for all the world like a scion of the Muscular Christianity movement of the 19th Century. Its exemplars were described by T. C. Sanders in an article in the SATURDAY REVIEW, February 21, 1857, as “….a man who fears God and can walk a thousand miles in a thousand hours—who breathes God's free air on God's rich earth, and at the same time can hit a woodcock, doctor a horse, and twist a poker around his finger."

Dean,
I drive through Fulton everyday to get to work. If you need any further research or pictures of church/residence today I would be happy to help.

Don

And to make the world even smaller I work for the Diocese of Syracuse that the Rev. Kearney was a priest for.

Garry,
It may have to suffice that it is used on a driven bird shoot. You are my prime candidate to shoot pheasants with lighter ordinance though. Let me know when.

Don,
It might be fun to see if the Reverend's family tree is around. Maybe I can glean some extra stories. I suppose ancestry.com works as well as anything for that research. Thanks for the offer.

Where's the drool emoji when you need it?!

I can't help but marvel at all forms of fine grade composite barrels.
