How rare is a Quality A Hammer Gun 12 gauge shipped in 1893? Any help is appreciated.

Not many. If you go page by page through the Identification and Serialization Book , you will be able count them and find serial numbers.

1 of 9 in 12ga. Very valuable gun and it should be professionally appraised. A gun like that needs a qualified person very knowledgeable in all things Parker. You should contact Josh Loewensteiner at Lion Stone Consulting. I own two AH Parkers that were in the 1897 Madison Sq. Garden Show, I have pictures of the display and did a DBJ article on the 1897 MSG and 1898 Boston Show. If your interested PM me.

Very neat gun, it looks like it has suffered some from poor storage. Go to the Parker home page and open "Parker Grades" page down to AH grade 6 and click on "Top Leveler Hammer Guns" to see what nice condition examples look like. Craig

It's OK. Has those very dangerous Damascus barrels that are an accident just waiting to happen, and that gaudy engraving, waaaay over the top. I'll give you $500 for it as a parts gun. :whistle:

It is extremely rare to find a high grade Parker that Parker Bros. was so proud of that it was their dedicated show gun, as explained in the research letter!
I have a 16 gauge GH on the 0-frame with 26” Damascus barrels that was made for the 1893 World’s Fair Columbian Exposition.
Yours is a real prize!!

This plebeian damascene 28” 16 gauge GH 1 frame also accompanied the subject gun to the 1898 Boston Show. Though not nearly as baroque, it got to go along for the ride. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:

The better part of 9 years as a display gun. Imagine the hands it passed through. I wonder how many guns its’s influence sold. Looks like it eventually got to spend some time in the field or marsh.

My BH grade ten that spent time at the 1893 World's Fair also spent time holding up liquor stores because it has 18" barrels and the stock was replaced, so the original stock was probably cut off behind the pistol grip.

Also, is a picture of the Parker booth at the 1897 MSG show. Amazing the number of show guns have surfaced. Good luck with your A it's a very cool gun.
