From Scott Kittredge,

20gr of 700-x, BPI X-10-X gas seal with red AA 12ga wad on top of it, 1 1/8 ounce of #6 shot, 40 yards off hand from Ithaca Super 10, 70% pattern.

"Sounded good, would use anytime"

I think it demonstrates nicely that a 12ga wad holding the shot over a 10ga gas seal behaves as it should in a 10ga gun. In a world without proper 10ga wads for light lead loads this is an easy and effective substitute.

I’m very happy to see this pattern test, I had great hopes for the short 10/12 wad hack!

Does it regulate?

I have found that many S x Ss will crossfire with loads that are much lighter, or higher velocity, than the original loadings the gun was built for. The most recent example is my Fox Sterlingworth Ejector 20 ga. quail and woodcock gun. With 7/8 oz. loads at around 1200 fps it crossfires both barrels to the tune of 8 inches. With 1 oz. loads at 1150 fps it prints each barrel's pattern perfectly centered and on top of each other.
