Is anyone aware of a table, or chart, that lists all the currently available non-tox shot and their densities? I'm interested in all the latest offerings, including the ITX and BTX shot from BPI, bismuth, Cu-plated bismuth, TSS, etc.
Thanks in advance, SRH

Type of Shot Density grams/cc Grains Per Pellet
#5 #6 #8
Tungsten TSS Shot 18.2 3.9 3.3 1.7
Tungsten Alloy 12.0 2.6 2.2 1.5
Pure Lead 11.3 2.4 2.0 1.3
Bismuth 9.6 2.1 1.7 1.0
Steel 7.8 1.8 1.4 0.7
Tried to make this easy, but the PGCA program scrambles it together

And, BPI's BTX shot is supposed to be 13.0, correct?

Their ITX shot is 20% denser than lead (13.56). I've never seen BTX and can't find it on the BPI site. I have ITX and it performs well on waterfowl. I occasionally hunt ducks/geese and use ITX. It makes 'em assume room temp and I can use my double guns.

Correction ....... it is shown to be 12 grams/cc, not 13, as I previously "mis-remembered".

This is beginning research for a several month long future project to develop a super long range load for some ducks that I have found flying over a river at about the same time and location every day, year after year, very high. I am having a 3 1/2" 10 ga. threaded for screw -in choke tubes, and have been offered the opportunity to try the manufacturer's various constrictions in their chokes to find what I need without having to buy them all. Determining a shot material and size shot is the first step in the reloading process for this. The barrel is being threaded by them now. I'm thinking about "shooting for" 1 3/4 oz. of a non-tox equal to, or denser than, lead. This BTX looks interesting.

Sounds like a good project to keep you busy until planting season...and then dove season...

Got it Stan, THX!! Doesn’t look like it has the way cool Saturn rings around the circumference like the ITX does. Those rings alone cause the critters to not even try to get away as the payload is approaching them.

I can't fine ITX shot on Ballistic Products website. I wonder if they have dropped it. I have handloaded it in the past with good results on waterfowl.

Matt, they show OO buck and BB shot sizes as available. Probably sold out of the other shot sizes.
