Hunted last Thursday through Saturday in eastern Arkansas in the L'Anguille River bottoms. Couldn't have picked a better time, or better company ....... my son and my two grandsons. Last morning I used my big 32" Super Fox in a flooded bean field, with BOSS copper plated bismuth.

We took 25 the first morning, 23 the second, and 20 the last. Mixed bags of mallards, woodies, gadwalls, pintails and teal.

Those barrels look like they are 40" long in that picture. Great photo!

Max is the star of that picture. He belongs to my great friend whose land we hunted, and is hands down the best retriever I've ever seen. His average is usually higher than mine! :rotf:

Now that the duck and dove seasons are about gone I must soon busy myself scouting turkeys for my Arkansas friend to hunt when he comes in the spring. I hope to close out the dove season today with one last afternoon shoot, after which I will enter into a state of depression that cannot be treated by any physician.

Great quote, Stan. I'm at the same point, seasons are closed. Been hiking around looking for antler sheds now and scouting for new deer stand spots. Found some nice sheds so far.

I can almost smell the water, that unique and pungent odor that means ducks. It is indeed a long time between seasons. My calendar is: Hunting Season...Waiting for Hunting Season. Stan, hang that photo in a prominent place where you can see it every day of the off season.

Got no place to hang it, Garry. My wife has everyplace filled with photos of the kids and grandkids, which is fine with me. Besides, most people wouldn't appreciate it like y'all guys do.

Thanks, SRH

I kinda miss the old way of taking pics and saving them in photo albums. It's fun to look back through them. I could print them out an a printer and do that but don't ever bother with it. Maybe I should.

Between our photos and my shooting journal, I have a pretty good storehouse of memories of wonderful (and sometimes fruitless!) hunts with friends -- both two and four-legged. I would not trade them for a Parker Invincible (even the 16 gauge!).
