Rare Configuration if Correct

This gun just was listed on GunsInternational. I've never seen another 28GA with 28 inch barrels and IC and Mod chokes, double triggers, and beavertail forend before. Price is crazy high especially with no case but a rare bird if correct:

I called yesterday, owner assured me it is. I am actually surprised it is not sold, I seriously considered it but the only reason I would have to own it would be the rarity and there are some other things I would rather have. I agree with Dean, IC/Mod 28" AND two triggers....I found an old post where John Allen confirmed at least 50 28" 28 gauge IC/Mod guns were made so even assuming half were double trigger, this is on of 25 give or take!

Seller confirms it is sold now so I guess the price was right. So what would you guys feel is a good price on a 28 gauge straight grip, double trigger, Q1 and Q2 gun with splinter forend and correct case? Gun is used with much of case coloring gone.

$4000 for a 26" gun with no case color. Those are two big problems.

Gerry, I sold my Repro 28 gauge in tht exact configuration, except for the chokes (IC MOD) and condition several years ago for more than that....

I think close to 5K. As the old saying goes, there aren't many out there and try to find another one.

In that configuration but with a beavertail, depending on the figure of the wood, as much as $6+k… but that’s just me.

Dean, that is a beautiful gun with great wood. I've owned many of these guns over the years and to find the 28GA with double triggers, straight grip and Q1 and Q2 chokes is super hard in my opinion. With a beavertail they are even more rare. I've only seen 4 in that configuration that I can remember. Maybe there are tons of them hidden away but I certainly haven't seen them for sale. I'll keep this one and will try to find a beavertail for it.

Gerry, I was incredibly lucky to have owned this gun while at the same time Kathy had a 28 gauge Repro with Q1 & Q2 chokes and a beavertail which fit mine perfectly allowing me to use the “perfect” grouse & woodcock gun.

Kathy’s is a pistol grip, double-rtigger gun which I still have. I’m keeping it for my grandchildren.

Dean, the gun you pictured doesn't seem to have any serious wear on the case colors. My $4000 estimate assumed serious loss of color. All the desired features and minty condition add thousands to the value of a Repro.

I just bought a mint, unfired 28 ga repro with 26-inch barrels for $5500. pistol grip, single trigger, splinter forend. not a bad price i thought

Single trigger, 26" barrels, deduct $3000 from a double trigger, 28" gun. Rarity and user popularity makes for big bucks in the resale market. Rarity is probably not a factor here, because probably as many 28" guns were made as 26" guns, but the 28" guns are buried in collections, because, you guessed it, user popularity causes 28" guns to be hidden away. They will come out, one at a time, for the next fifty years, but they will be expensive. I think I got this right.

I recently had Dan Cullity and Son open up the chokes on my 20 ga Repro with 28 inch barrels. Shoots like a dream on skeet now. Opened the chokes to mod and IC. Love the way this Repro handles.

Was only bidder
I then had barrels fitted
And had chokes
Opened to skeet and
Ic
Then month later bought
28 ga 2 barrel set that dealer
Never checked but were mismatched with expensive
Metal case for
4100, then I paid a little to get fitted
