Interesting butt plate, widow’s peak with a Partridge image. The shotgun is a 30”plus 12 gauge percussion muzzle loader stamped WM Moore Co. though in reality it’s a Belgian knock-off. Not that there is anything particularly special about the gun other than its fully functional, I thought the butt plate was noteworthy.
The rib is stamped “London Fine Twist”, it should say “Belgian Fine Twist”.

The gun seems to have a wee tad of condition, whether original or fixed up a bit.

This one is interesting, a chocolate patina covers the barrels and hammers. The protected under barrels exhibit as new twist patterns. The sideplates have a generous amount of case color. The locks are tight, hold half cock and it has surprisingly nice and smooth bores. There is an oval monogram at the normal lower butt stock location.
I’m uncertain under what circumstances the smooth hard dark chocolate patina occurs, but wiping down with an oil cloth left no trace of surface oxidation after the initial cleanup with an oily Frontier pad.
Sometimes I buy a gun because know how nicely they will clean up after many years of neglect. I will definitely shoot some clays and have some enjoyment with my newfound time capsule.
