Hello,
I have inherited this parker from a grandfather who has recently passed away. This SN is 144328. The stock was at some point cracked in half and then disassembled and never put back together. I would love to work on getting it back together but want to make sure whatever stock I buy is correct, and going to be appropriate for the firearm. I'm near Cleveland Ohio and so far have not been able to find anyone with much knowledge on the parker model shotguns. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Joseph you may not need to buy a new stock at all. There are some wood magicians among us that can work magic. I would suggest that you post some pictures of your gun and the membership can comment from there.

Thanks for the information! The overall condition is pretty good and looking through the bores it looks like a mirror finish end to end. I will be posting some pictures shortly.

I suspect there are several stockers who can put that back together for a LOT less money than a new stock

That would be great if that could be done. Any recommendations on somebody that's near Cleveland/Medina Ohio? Thank you!

How is the trigger guard and the frame was it damaged. From what I see this repair/ restock will far exceed the value of the gun it, The comb has had a riser spliced on too. Good luck hope you are able to shoot the old gal someday.

Are these guns fairly common then? If not worth repairing, it may just end up getting sold as is. All the pieces and parts are with it and in good condition, just the stock was broken about 65 years ago and then stored after that.

That stock is beyond repair realistically. It has already been repaired once or twice before and has not held up.
AND, that stock is not original anyway. It was made sometime after the gun was made. And it has been poorly altered after that point too.
Putting any effort or expense into that piece of wood would be throwing good money away.
Regarding purchasing used stocks…. These guns were all hand fitted and have a lot of variation from gun to gun. You could purchase 12 stocks before you find one that is a proper fit. It is just the way that it is.
The basic piece of info you need to have is the frame size which will determine the width of the stock head. That will be what you need to match in order to find a stock that MAY be compatible.

When you take your gun for a ride on the tractor, you should let it ride on the seat, not tied to the plow.
