You're too old, and the dog may outlive you.
You're too old to keep up with a puppy, much less a young, developing bird dog.
You have two bird dogs already that need your time and attention.
Bird numbers are down and don't look to improve in your state.

Good reasons to get a new puppy:

Garry,

Nice looking pup! Hope you many fun adventures ahead. They are what hopes and dreams are made of. Where did you find this one?

Ken, Rill is a Springset pup. She will be our 5th from Springset (including one rescue dog). They have all been incredibly biddable and easy to train. This one is much more bold than any other I've had, and I'm hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew.

Thanks, folks. At the risk of becoming the proud parent with baby pictures, I can confirm some fine grasshopper finding genes in Rill. Heaven help me when she gets old enough to outrun me (which will probably be this coming Friday:crying:)

We are all packed and ready to head to the North Woods tomorrow. Looks to be cold, but hopefully the fair weather hunters left a bird or two for us. The pups, all three, are anxious to go. They see us packing and become "truck watchers," hoping to be called to "kennel" for the ride North. Always interesting to have a puppy along for the trip. It will be year 35 for the humans on this trip...as Elaine says, "hard to believe the time has gone so quickly."

Good luck on your trip and have a great hunt! Hopefully the puppy will have a god time.
