Reloading 8 gauge bananas.

Well it took a long time to find a few of these yellow Remington 8 ga hulls to load but I finally was able to grab a couple. They are basically identical to the green ones but the head stamp is different. They just say Remington Industrial no gauge markings. They load as easy as any other Remington 8 ga hull just has a banana yellow color which I thought they looked neat. I wonder If I can convince anyone they are 20 gauges shells :rotf: .

Did you resize the yellow shell? The reason I ask is thatI spent a lot of time coming up with a resizer when I bought an 8 gauge, loaded a couple aand found that my gun (1872 Scott and bone stock and untouched) was chambered for the dimensions of the industrial shell to start with. I suspect they were not standardized at the time. I wonder if anyone else has come across this in comparing US vs British guns.

My chambers match CIP dimensions listed for the 8 gauge from what I can tell. I've read some 8 gauges will chamber the industrial shells without sizing. If I had a nicer 8 gauge I really loved I would probably just order brass shells since the availability is unreliable with industrial hulls.

Yes the yellow shell I resized easy enough.
Only shell that ever surprised me was the short brass AA looking 8 gauge industrial loads. I didn't think it would work with them but they resized extremely easy.

I’ve gotten rude looks at a December dove shoot for bringing a 10 gauge , I can just imagine what they’d say about an 8 . Of course it’s illegal as heck , not that it would bother me in the least .

I opened dove season South Zone with a 30" 10 ga. damascus . My guys howled! Rude comments about "buffalo guns", cannons, etc. They weren't laughing watching me drop several on the OTHER SIDE of the pond we were hunting or a couple of high flyers the girly-men with the 28's passed on! A short 10 is a great choice for a dove hunt. I think I'll stick to my light weight 16s and 20s for quail though!

A short 10 might not be too bad on quail considering it's alot more open down here since we lost alot of pines. You carry the 8s enough a 9lb 3 frame feels like a 16 gauge in comparison so close enough I say haha.

Industrial, eh? So, they were made to shoot and remove the stuck slag out of inside of blast furnaces at steel mills. I have some 3-1/2" 10ga industrial rounds that have a 750gr lead slug in them.... just in case I ever encounter a rogue Tyrannosaurus in the marsh...
