Ran across this gun on G.I. and bought it today. They also had it for sale on GB, was able to talk em down a bit in price. I've held a couple of these in the past, and always liked the way they felt. Almost bought one at the local Cabelas a while back, but it just was not in the condition I would have liked.

Anyway, ran across this one with the Round pg stock, which I like personally... I know, I know you straight stock guys probably think I am nutso..... 28, " Barrels, choked IC/M with double bead, and checkered butt stock. 14.5" LOB with a 2.5" DH says it weighs 6lb 6oz.

Nice lookin guns, and I have yet to read any sort of review that is bad on them. Wanted a gun I could shoot any OTC ammo I wanted out of and not have to baby.

Should be here next week. :-)

I'm just real sorry I didn't buy one when they were giving them away. Oh, well. Congratulations on your new gun.

I love pistol grip Stocks. Their is only one thing ''WORSE'' than a Straight
Grip Stock, and that would be ''Two'' Straight Grips Stocks.

Harry

That's why they make vanilla and chocolate. Of course, I like them both.

Joseph, what you have is the exact same gun as the gun made in Turkey by AKUS, and sold under the name Dickinson. I have had one for nearly ten years and enjoy it a bunch. I had a friend in Utah who had two of the S & Ws like yours. It is a trigger plate action gun, and a whale of a lot of gun for the $$$, IMO.

The only difference I have been able to find in the Elite and the Dickinson is that the buttplate screws on the Dickinson are ugly Phillips head screws whereas on the Elite they are nice, slotted and "engraved" screws. When I learned this years ago I called the S & W service department and was able to secure a pair that was leftover from the previously sold Elites, and swapped them out on my Dickinson. Same diameter and thread pitch.

It's my understanding.... Akus has made this same basic gun under several names. I think S&W was the original though. Dickinson, Webley & Scott, SKB, and Kimber all sold this gun with their name on it I believe. I think the new SKB Box locks are this same basic gun.

Should be picking the gun up today!

The SKB 200 is the same gun, but not a boxlock ...... a triggerplate action.

Yeah, my mistake there, they are all trigger plate guns....

Joe,

Looking at the first photo I would call it a Prince of Wales grip. Somewhere between a pistol grip and a straight stock. I like the looks and feel of that style stock. Nice gun.

yea, it's more of a half hand POW style I guess. I've owned other guns with that style, and really like it. I think most of the S&W Elite Golds were made with straight stocks.....
