Need advice

Hey Guys.. I'm looking at an 1885 12ga Grade "D2", #1 frame.
I looked up D2 and it seems to be an early subcategory and implies grades E, G, H or a combination thereof.
Is this correct?

That's right and the D = Damascus barrels.
