There was one of our friends on here that had done some railbird shooting near Sea Island a few years ago. Is he still with us?

Mr. Hoffard, if you can pull up your post of August 28, 2013 titled “rail bird shooting”, go to page 2 and scroll down you should see some photos of railbird shooting I did on the Georgia coast. I am not sure if this is what you are referring to. Some year or two (maybe three) prior to the one just mentioned I posted re railbird shooting on Georgia cost, title of post was “Marshes of Glynn and a .410”, I could not find it after search, maybe too old. I searched and found the thread you referenced . Area in GA you hunted reminds of some of the terrain they portrayed in the movie about Ward Allen “Savanah” !

Craig, the terrain is like that all the way from Savannah to the Florida line ...... beautiful marshes.

Having already read about Ward Allen, I enjoyed the movie "Savannah" so much that I bought it. Excellent.

Rail hunting is one of the few things I have not done around here, although a few friends enjoy it.

I like the looks of it ! Parking my lazy butt in a flat bottom boat while someone poles me around ! Been after one of the places I do tower shoots to provide golf carts so I don’t have to carry all my junk .

How are rails on the dinner plate?

How are rails on the dinner plate?

They aren’t from what I hear.

I had a friend who rented my brother's house for a few years who would drive down to the coast and hunt them often. From what he said, a .410 is adequate.

I've eaten them when they were tremendous and I've eaten them when they were horrendous, it just depends on what feed they've been on.
