I was at Cabelas in Scarborough Maine yesterday with Scott Kittredge and we were both shocked to see their price on a new MEC 600Jr. Reloading has certainly become much more expensive to get into.

I saw one at a local gunshop last week for $368 which I thought was high.

I think anything over $100 is to much for used and $150 for new but what the heck do I know :banghead: I will say I paid $650 for a used refitted 600JR to load 8 gauge , but it was either that or do it with hand tools snd im way to impatient for that :rotf::rotf:

putting a few loaders away would have been a better bet than Roslyn gold
I think I still have a 10ga one in the box - maybe i''ll wait for the price to peak :rotf:

I go to Craigslist and type in MEC pretty often. Picked up 60 pounds of shot, 2000 primers, 1/2 pound of powder, 1000 wads, 100 hulls, a brand new powder scale still in the box, and a brand new 9000 20 gauge with all of the improved features (tilting primer tray so it will stop dropping primers when you finish up the rounds being processed) for $400. Really got the 9000 for almost nothing, maybe $100. Makes 7/8 ounce loads flawlessly.
But it happens to our toys when old farts like us die.
About $255 for the 600 JR other places. I am guessing Cabelas has the price tag of a higher grade reloader on it.

Made my weekly pass thru the reloading stuff I watch on Ebay, lots of clean, one owner MEC rigs for sale. Several models and multi gauges from cheap to ridicules. I'm always amazed at what some items are valued at.

Yes, I also think someone at Cabela's put the price of a higher-grade reloader on that box. Midway has the 12 gauge 600 JR for $232 plus shipping. Prices are up, but they aren't that bad. Not yet, anyway...

That is not a small mistake. I pity the person who bought a 600jr at that price.

Speaking from experience, how will you know when they have peaked, Rick? I let $8.00 corn and $1.38 cotton slip by me, just this summer. :cuss:

Not so much at where the items are priced/valued. It's all what some dupe is willing to pay for the items.

I just had a .410 600 JR given to me by a club member. This is good because my two PW 800Bs are pretty permanently broken down after more than forty years of service. However, a free 600 JR is not as good a deal as you think. If you shoot a dozen different .410s, you need to size the shells and a Supersizer by MEC is not a cheap item. I guess I'll find out which of my .410s have tight chambers.

Whats wrong with the sizer on the 600 Jr.? It does a decent job.
If you want a .410 Super Sizer find a used 12 which are relatively cheap and buy the conversion kit. I found a couple for $25 each and did that to them.

the issue is - especially in older guns - chambers vary -
I had a 10 gauge guun that I had to run the shells fired in it through a super sizer before they would fit in the Jr. Another 10 was tight but would fit into the JR. Shells fired in my Ithaca Super 10 barely cause any resistance in the resizer on the Jr

Ditto with a 16. Found a 16 supersizer on eBay, converted a 12 SM to 16 w/collet for 16 chambers of varying sizes. Works great.

Does anyone here have 16g or 410g die sets for sale?

Buckeyeguy, you may want to see an article I wrote about die sets for a 600 jr. It was written in this forum about 8-14-2011 under the title of "The versatile MEC 600 jr." about page 31 or 32. You have to realize that the prices I mentioned were current in 2011, but it could save you money and time. Let me know if it helps.
