My son Jason just returned from RMNP. I too used to be part Mountain Goat, though now my health doesn’t permit it. Nevertheless, Jason is carrying on my high country legacy. The trout are native “Greenback Cutthroat”.

I really like the pic of the marmot, hyrax, rock badger, or whatever the little feller is, backed into the cleft in the rocks. Great pic.

It’s a “Pika”.

Last time I went to the Colorado Weapons Collectors Show, when heading back west on I-70, I stopped at the rest area at the summit. Walking from my car to the bathroom and back really took it out of me!!

Having frequented the high country my whole life, backpacking and hunting elk, I can wholeheartedly attest to the thin air at 10000'.
Incidentally, most of the fish in Arrowhead Lake were taking refuge under the rock overhangs and deep recesses along the bank due to a well fed American Bald Eagle.
The deep coloration of the trout is a result of their breeding season, which had just been completed. They don't always display such vivid coloration.

Yup, thin air will do that to ya. Happened to me at Glacier hiking up over the mountain to see the glacier on thenother side.
