16 gauge guns at Jaquas

Jaquas has a couple 16 gauge guns I'm thinking of taking a ride down to look at. DHE Serial # 193772 and DHE Serial # 154753
(Jaquas Stock # 200818) (# 205182)

Any input would be greatly appreciated. (original configuration, etc) (I need a serialization book :cool:)

200818 is pretty darn nice! I don't see anything wrong with it except that horrible pad.
I wonder what those file marks are on the safety button but what the heck, it can be replaced easily. The price seems reasonable too.

And comparing the two, my personal preference would be originality even though the other one refinished by DelGrego in 1980 is one of the better refinishes I have seen from that shop. Nevertheless, give me a straight grip 30" original gun any day!

Dean, Being a D gun I wondered if it came with a pad or perhaps the stock was replaced. Should be a skeleton right?

There were plenty of D's originally ordered with pads when the standard was a skeleton. To me the stock looks original otherwise.

I made it down to look at the 30" straight stocked gun. I believe the beads are incorrect with a metal bead on the end and a red plastic looking one on the middle. There are a couple of scratches on the right barrel through the blueing but didn't appear to be into the metal, a couple small scrapes on the right barrel muzzle opening and a , likely incorrect Red Head butt pad. Otherwise very nice looking.

Yeah the mid bead sounds like it was added later. I don't believe (but am subject to correction) that the Lyman red ivory beads became popular until well after the gun was made... no big deal though IMO.

It goes without saying “condition is everything” as is originality/correctness . However this isn’t 1962 and the available choices are not what they were sixty years ago , atleast not at bargain basement prices . So as I see it now it’s a matter of holding out for prime specimens and have just a few or take the knocks scratches and dings in stride . I mean pristine is actually wasted on me , while I like pristine I plan on shooting it if I buys it and no I don’t tend to beat them up or abuse them . But is you use them wear is bound to happen .

Don't get me wrong. I made an offer but like most of their guns it's on consignment and they couldn't reach the decision maker. Based on our conversation, I expect to own it soon and will be shooting sporting clays with it Friday. :):):) BTW, they have several Parkers coming in from an estate that are being looked over and catalouged. I'm pretty sure I saw about 4-5 A grade guns on a table behind the counter and two 32" barrled guns, (at least one was a V grade maybe both) a 16 and 20 I think.
