Hi folks, new to the Parker world. Just purchased two Parkers and looking to get them shot worthy again. After receiving the research letters, I'm curious about a couple of details. On the 1906 Hammerless it says "special instructions were Silvers butt pad, word safe in silver, Dam under rib and stock like old gun". Butt pad I understand, but what does the other 3 things mean?

Will post pics and more questions once the guns ship to me next week, thanks in advance!

For the safety selector button position, the word SAFE will be made with silver. Next question: will it be a piece that is inlet into the steel or will silver thread be worked into the engraving?

The rib under the barrels will be made of Damascus steel. Wondering why that will be requested? Hard to see it or what difference it makes to function or aesthetics.

The owner has (or had) one with stock dimensions they liked enough to ask Parker Bros. to duplicate it for this one you are getting.

Looking forward to pictures.

Tell us how that information compares to the actual gun. Are those features present?

I had a thread a while back that didn't get a lot of attention, but there is probably a lot more variation in rib material than eople realize. Breck Gorman has a running thread he calls Rib Art, l believe. I have a set of Parker laminate barrels with plain laminate top rib, plain twist rib behind the forend hook and Damascus in front of the hook. The Damascus steel in front of the hook is the finest, most delicate rosette pattern I have ever seen on a shotgun. Some people in the day may have put a lot of stock in this.

Those bottom ribs and barrels that Breck restored are gorgeous. Hopefully mine looks similar and I can get him to redo mine.

Here they are. The 1906 Hammerless ended up being all original except for the Pachmyr buttpad and a Fulford Single Trigger. The lifter has some odd things going on, so I’ll be posting questions on it.

Here are the rest of the pics of the 1906. The safe selector appears to have inlaid silver letters.

Damascus under rib is correct, barrel length is correct. It’s a 16 gauge on a 0 frame. Extremely light, excellent feel to the gun. Can’t wait to get it restored.

Some info on your Fulford trigger you may find of interest.

Does your Fulford trigger work well? I have one that seems to work OK as I recall.

Bill I have a 34" CHE with a Fulford trigger in it. I have not shot it a lot, I would say around 6-7 flats so far. It has functioned just fine but I have NOT attempted to switch the barrels. It is set to fire R then L. As both chokes are tight I am just leaving it alone. I'm half afraid to look at it much less fiddle with it as long as it's working properly. Heck it may be the greatest ST of all time for all I know, but then again....

Upon initial inspection yes it appears to function correctly, I will let the professional evaluate it and see what he says
