Here is another example of some serial number oddities that we see from time to time that is simply a reminder that the guns were made by men in less than ideal conditions by todays standards.

This is a Remington Era VHE 20g Skeet gun. Number 240684. Note on yhe back of the trigger guard it was stamped 240”0”84 and the “0” was overstamped with a 6. And the engraving is the same way. A 6 engraved over the 0.

20g 2bbl set one btfe, one splinter. Round knob pistol grip with an ssbp. An odd feature on a V grade, but it is completely original. Yes, single trigger.

I own 173441 CHE 12ga #3 frame the action, barrels, stock with the trigger guard removed and forend are engraved with the same serial number as is the underside of the trigger guard, the trigger guard is engraved 172441.
