The Serialization Book is not the last word on provenance. The Serialization Book largely takes its information from the stock books. PGCA may have information on this gun from the order books, a different source. The availability of more information can be confirmed on this website. What is the serial number?

Thanks Bill. I checked and there is information available but based on my previous experience by the time the letter gets here the gun will be gone.

Best,

Mike

Bill the email with the serial number is at home. I believe it is 99097. Will confirm later in the day. The gun is on GunsInternational. I would post a link but I think it violates board policy. The listing number is 100151744

Maybe checkering was ordered that way butt looks to match. Never know

Mike, the checkering on the forend appears recut to me, it is coarse for a G grade, the border is wrong and all the original Gs I have seen have a border around the latch. The photos of the buttstock checkering are not clear enough to tell if it has been recut, but the finish looks odd to me. The border at the end of the rib can be faked, I would want bore and choke measurements before laying out that much money. IMHO the entire gun has been enhanched.

It doesn't look cut.... possibly "trimmed" by 1/16" or so but not cut.
