I might be in Philly a few days next week. Is it worth a drive by to look at the old Fox Factory? Does anybody know the actual address?

The corner of N.18th St. and Windrim Ave. might look a bit different these days, however it still houses the finest collection of low to mid-grade Foxes in Philly!! :bigbye:

PS---Bring plenty of cash or a bag full of jacket-sized patches!!

I was thinking the brick office building was still standing as some kind of machine shop?

Might be a good place for our next annual AHFCA meeting. You can tell your wife that you are visiting the old factory to do some research on Foxes.:)

P.S Steve might want to check his alcohol intake, that place is in Portland, Oregon.

I checked Google Earth yesterday and the factory originally built for Philadelphia Arms Co. and used by A.H. Fox Gun Co. from late 1906 into 1926 was still standing there at the intersection of N. 18th Street and Windrim Avenue.

You are thinking of the Parker Gun Co. Office building in Meriden, hard by the railroad tracks, which was the last stop for inspection and shipping before sending the finished guns out.
We visited it during the "Meriden Homecoming" PGCA event and tour (forget the year - 1991?). The building by then was in fact a machine shop on the first floor; the second floor "attic" was where some PGCA members discovered and salvaged a large number of individual Parker Gun work tickets (Tags) and rescued them for future documentation. (There is a list on our website). Next door was the weed-strewn lot where the Parker Bros. factory burned down. A couple of us got bricks from it as momentos.
As usual, Dave's updated reference to the 18th & Windrim St. Fox Gun Factory is accurate; do yourself a favor and cut through all the BS and speculation regarding the worth of a visit there and Google Map the address and go to "Images". There are a series of great updated photos there and you can rotate 360 degrees for images.
I almost went over there today from West Chester PA after a funeral for a friend, but ran out of time, and also forgot a large caliber handgun (dicey 'hood!)
Had a nice conversation with our buddy Don at the reception after the funeral service and reminisced about our Canada hunts, especially the Snow goose hunt north of Rimouski.
P.S. - When am I going to get my LOM case? Best, K.

You'll get the case eventually, whenever it turns up again in my storage. I'm not holding any funds from you so remain at my leisure in the matter.
I'm glad to hear Don is doing well, sorry to hear about the death of your mutual friend. Don and I haven't talked much since just before the Quebec trip several falls ago when my bunk was given unexpectedly to another party without my prior authorization. I was one of the original organizers of the venture as you'll recall, going several years before you and your brother were included.
Best,
DLH

Kevin, I haven't heard anything out of Don in quite awhile. Hope he is doing well. Destry, those trips to the PGC were incredible. There's nothing like shooting live pigeons over the banks of the Delaware. I guess those days are gone.
