I thought I made a mistake when I tried to make one a duck dog. This dude put one on a Repro.

When you just love your dog nothing else matters.

This gun has been for sale for well over a year now. Goldens are a great breed that deservedly have a loyal following!
I view this gun as a lesson for being careful about your decisions for a custom engraving pattern. I feel that making a custom gun for your own pleasure is fine, but you need to keep in mind that when you or someone else needs to sell the gun you've narrowed down the potential market of buyers to a select few, especially with a five-figure asking price.

Be interesting to have Gournet chime and see if he remembers anything about this gun since he engraved it.

He'll probably remember that he couldn't imagine anyone spending that kind of money on a 26" 12 gauge. That gun isn't going anywhere.

The absolute best engraving story was a SXS I saw some time ago with a groundhog on the bottom of the receiver. I couldn't imagine anyone doing that so I inquired and they said they told the engraver they wanted a woodcock on it and he thought they said woodchuck! I'll bet that was an interesting conversation when that gun was delivered.

I wouldn't mind having a groundhog on the floorplate of a Repro unless it was a 26" gun.

About 25 years ago, David Bichrest, a Winchester collector from Maine, offered a pre-1900 AH Grade 12 ga. with beautiful Damascus barrels with a sea otter floating on its back in a kelp bed, opening a clam against its chest engraved on the floorplate. The gun was purportedly built for a lumber baron in Maine, and if I remember correctly the asking price was just over $2K. He told me I really should own it, but of course I didn't buy it because of those incredibly dangerous Damascus barrels! I certainly hope no one was harmed trying to shoot it!

I've seen that gun, or pictures of it, somewhere and it is a wonderful Parker.
