After a very long wait and a lot of fighting, a guy at the club brought his new Superbird yesterday. For what he paid I can only say "meh..." I have never been a fan of round body guns and this didn't change my mind. With 30" barrels, SST, BTFE and screw in chokes for that money (or less) ...I'd rather have a 12g VHE with double triggers and BTFE (hell, I'd settle for that raffle gun!!). We were all expecting something magical but it just didn't appear to be. It struck me as a "tool" not a work of gun making art. That's just my opinion and maybe because I'm partial to older things. He seems to like it but thinks it was too much hassle and will never do business with them again, having waited a year and only being given two choke tubes. Just an FYI as I haven't seen much feedback on this gun.

I know everyone's likes are different, but if I'm going to order a CSMC gun for $6500, I'm going to want it with two triggers. That said, for $6500 I could find a really nice Parker that'll do what I need it to do.

Daryl, It’s the Galazan dedicated side by side clays gun. Mike he was north of $6500 I believe with long LOP, drops and wood choice. It has that super glossy Citori look which I don’t personally care for but it’s durable I guess.

Personally, I don’t find single triggers quicker than double triggers. I’ve fired hundreds of thousands of shells combined out of single and double trigger guns and have never felt handicapped using double triggers on a quick true pair.

I think they were refering to a competition where two shots are allowed at a target. Most shooters take both on every one to be safe and an instant repeat is better. Sorta like a pistoldouble tap. I don't own a double gun with a single trigger, but for that particular game I think it would be an advantage.

I'm a southpaw shooting "right handed" triggers and have never felt handicapped. They are just as fast, and more reliable IMO, than a single trigger.

I clearly have less shotgun experience than those already commenting but would add this- once out of about every 100 rounds I shoot while upland hunting I fail to release the single trigger completely (on one of my modern doubles) after my first shot and when I pull for the second shot the second barrel will not fire until I release the trigger all the way. This is operator error but also an argument in favor of double triggers. I have not had this happen with my VH 12 with a Miller Single Trigger for some reason.
On the other hand, I am very grateful that my Sig Sauer P320 only has one trigger.

I have much less experience with double triggers than most people on this forum I'm sure. When shooting one of my DT guns for skeet or clays, and when I've just switched over, I'll occasionally forget about that second trigger and look like an idiot. My buddy calls them PhD guns "Pull Here Dummy"

When I first got into shooting doubles, I hated double triggers. I was so used to that single trigger and was full of angst when thinking of using double triggers! After a few rounds of clays the few synapses that still worked took over and since then it’s been easy peasy!! I have some single trigger Parkers but that’s because I really liked the guns. Just takes a little practice and your brain will go to auto-pilot.

I handled a few super birds at the Southern. Meh is a good description. It seemed way overpriced and a not particularly attractive gun. A M21 with vent rib would be far better and a classic gun to boot. Plus, the M21 if bought at a reasonable price is a good investment. I can’t imagine getting one’s money back on a super bird.

Double trigger Browning Superposeds are hard to find. They are the solution to the over under double trigger problem. Double single trigger Supers are the best.

I bought a Beretta S3 from one of the members here. Made in 1936 and almost all are double triggers. First Beretta with the shallow sidepin reciever and pretty muched ruled live Pigeon matches in Europe for a long time. Beretta reportedly paid a huge price for the one Hemingway bought in the 1940's and put it on display in NY. Not overlong or heavy but one of the most dynamic bird guns ever made. I think it would be a great Sporting Gun.

Don't turn down an S series Beretta with double triggers because it has 28" barrels when you want 30". 28" barrels were standard for European pigeon guns until very recent times. 30" are very hard to find.
