Vista is again announcing price increases on ammunition and reloading components after a similar announcement last July. No new orders by dealers for primers until after 4/22.

I think the end result of all this mess will be higher prices

Well in the Vista/Remington line about the only thing I’d want would be maybe a case of SP-10 wads and a case of SP-8 wads . So we’re talking maybe $100-150 additional at the absolute most . I can live with that .

Vista is more than just Remington, it is Federal, CCI, Alliant Powder, Estate, Hevi-Shot, Speer, Primos, Tasco, Bushnell, Simmons, Redfield, Weaver, RCBS, Hoppes, Uncle Mikes and a few others. Vista has and is building a shooting sports monopoly. Anyone involved in the shooting sports will be purchasing their products.

I am wondering if we will ever see Remington wads in production again. I can't imagine there is a lot of market share for 8ga and 10ga lead shot wads. Most folks shooting 10ga are shooting non-toxic shot. Across the spectrum of shotgun gauges there are a lot of other choices such as Claybuster at a much lower price point.

I didn’t realize they had all that . But again other than the wads mentioned about all I’d want anymore would be a couple eights of Unique . I suspect if you don’t see anymore of the SP wads I mentioned the Gualandi wads will be the only game in town for the two gauges . I’ve already used the Italian wads in the 8 with success but I’ve not yet gotten any for the 10 although I have four bags ordered . Well perhaps CB will see fit to do limited knock off runs of the SP-8 and SP-10 I’d certainly have no problem with that . I’m finding my brand loyalties for a good part have gone to the wayside ! For years and years if a truck didn’t have a bow tie in the grill I wouldn’t buy it , now I’m driving one from the land of the riding sun ! What’s the world coming to .

The Remington SP10 wad is “discontinued” according to MidwayUSA.

Time to switch to the PT1044.

I’d put very little stock in what Midway says . Then again they “might” be onto something . But then the Gualandi wad is unavailable as of the moment as well .

Really as a product theres no reason for Remington to make the SP-8 wads anymore, they're not actually needed for industrial loads. Winchester just uses fiber wads in theirs, shot deformation/setback probably isnt a high priority for busting slag buildup. Those kiln operators shoot thousands of rounds in a session going to a cheaper fiberwad would probably add up eventually. On the other hand theres little reason for them anyhow to set aside such a small amount of SP-8 wads for the few guys using them when they are selling industrial loads by the 9600 round pallet.

Craig BPI has the Gualandi 8 ga industrial wad in stock, a little bit bigger than the one PR sells $22/250.

There seems to be plenty of SP10 wads in Canada and the UK. Those vendors CANNOT ship powder, primers, ammo, bullets, brass (I think) or firearms to the US. I found one that accepted my order for wads. Canadian post is crazy money but I want the wads. We'll see if the sale and shipment goes thru. If so I will advise the members here.

At worse you might get a letter from US Customs with a xray picture of your package saying they incinerated it, I know someone that happened to :rotf:.

Just seen 6 bags of 250 SP10 wads listed on GI at $80 per bag seems a bit expensive.

There are a lot of components out there on the "auction" sites. The prices are high, but if it's either stop shooting/hunting or literally "bite the bullet" and pay high prices, we will all probably pay the high price. Prices will never drop back to pre-Plandemic price.

The folks in Canada came thru on the SP10s, delivered to Texas today. Placed a second order today and discovered the freight was the same for 5 bags as 2. Wish I'd known that on my first "test" order. They show 30+ available. www.ellwoodepps.com

After I read your post about ordering more I immediately looked at their website and they had 40+ bags . I entertained the idea of ordering another twenty bags but decided against . Then I looked again today after I got back from the post office and they had eight bags I believe .

I'm not worried about SP-8 wads since I came up with a way to make my own shotcups for the 8 gauge and Circle Fly has everything else.

Think I’m set with SP-10’s I have perhaps 6,000 . Like some of the Gualandi 10 gauge wads and have 2,000 on backorder with someone . As to the 8 gauge I’ve got perhaps 2,000 SP-8’s , maybe a thousand of the Gualandi 8’s at the house and another 1,500Gualandi’s on the way .

Im going to have to pass with shipping it comes out to $1.45 per hull I can buy Federal 10 ga 3.5" ammo to take apart for hulls which would be $1.47 per hull.

Price and shipping are in Canadian funds. I stocked up and ended up paying about 10 cents (U.S.) per SP-10 wad. Not bad for a hard-to-find (and discontinued) component. The PT1044 wads from BP come at about 8 cents per wad.

Now where in the world can I find some new Remington (green/unfired) 10 gauge hulls? Those too are now discontinued.

It’s getting harder and harder to shoot the Short Ten. Gotta stock up on components when you can.

Thank you Keith Doty!

Vista is producing Remington ammunition at the Lonoke AR plant. They may produce Remington brand 10ga 3 1/2" non-toxic waterfowl loads and lead Turkey loads which were sold in the past. If so Remington 10ga hulls may continue to be available. Finding them is another question.

I contacted Remington ammunition and the customer service representative said they will supply the sp10 to reloaders in the future, but not the sp8. I believe Tom Amburst and Precision had a special deal to obain spa8s. I will check with Tom.

I wonder if its because Precision Reloading is a company they are more willing to deal with them. Both Remington and Winchester Industrial dont like being bothered with individuals it seems. Fiocchi occasionally sells their 8 ga hulls to ClayandGame when I emailed them about buying some they told me to contact a distributor to place a order. If the Winchester hulls dry up it may be a option they come in 1200 case orders.

Gentlemen it appears this group has snorked up the entire inventory of SP10s as Epps. This AM they show 3 bags! Hope all that needed some ends up with some. I'll look again, somewhere I found some available in the UK but went for the Canadian supply first. If I find'em I'll pass it on here.

I kinda wish when I ordered the twenty bags I got that I’d gotten forty but I suspect I’ve got enough to last me awhile . Although I would like 4-8 bags of the Gualandi 10 gauge wads .

I ordered some SP-10 wads from Epps on Monday Jan 10 ….. shipped on Wednesday the 12th ….. delivered today. The box was sealed and over-wrapped in brown paper, fancy folded and taped as mail packages used to be done when I was a kid. Great service! I haven’t checked my cc but recently the exchange rate was about $1.00 CAD to 80 cents USD.

All I have to say is that another vendor often named in this forum can learn something from Epps on picking orders and shipping in a timely manner. I have one small order in progress there that was entered on Jan 6 and with the item shown in stock, and today on Jan 18 my order status still shows as “will pick”.

Got mine today. Ordered on the 8th in the evening, shipped the 10th, arrived in Houston on the18th. Same as the first order, well packed, wrapped in heavy parcel paper and this one with a shrink wrap plastic around it. First class service and quick considering it has to pass thru US customs and Houston is a long way from where they started!
This is a great vendor, wish they didn't have the restrictions on what they can ship to the States. I'd gladly do more business with them.
