Good morning,
Any way to tell whether a Parker catalog is original? Based on the price list, I think this is a 1930 catalog. It has the word “duplicate” written in either pencil or pen on the first page. Staples look old, along with some staining particularly on the back cover. I’d consider it in fair condition. I’m probably going to part with this, and don’t want to unfairly represent it. Appreciate any thoughts.

Whether original or repro those old catalogs are a lot of fun to peruse.

That catalog cover should be green to be original.

I wouldn't want to guess whether it's original or not, but I know they came out with both green and ivory, and both were reproduced in the '70s.

Is the paper textured or smooth?

The paper stock for the cover is textured. Has a leather feel to it.

Give us the dimensions and you will get an appraisal. Full size catalogs of 1926 to 1930 vintage are green.

Bill,
The catalog measures 9-5/16” x 6-1/16”.

I should have been more specific; are the inside pages smooth or textured?

Edgar,
The paper is not smooth like a magazine or printer paper. It reminds me of paper in a quality book, or the cotton rag paper my mom would buy for her typewriter when I was a kid.

In over sixty years of fooling with Parkers and Parker paper, I have never seen an original ivory, tan, or brown 1926 or 1930 full size catalog. No mention of such a catalog in The Parker Story either. I have this reproduction also, but I don't know who printed it.

So, my conclusion from this exercise is that what I have is an old reproduction of a 1930 catalog. I will offer it as such. Thanks for your feedback!
