Who was the lucky bidder on the DH grade 8 gauge at Poulin's Auction November 6? I hope it's one of us. Item #2083. I suspect that it may not have made its reserve.

I could be mistaken but seems to me that’s the third time that guns been to auction in the last year or so .

I was doing a phone bid at the time and my person said it met the reserve or had no reserve , forget which . Anyway he said it actually sold .

Craig’s right. It didn’t sell at Morphy’s or Rock Island but did at Poulin’s. Market changer for sure.

I’ve bought more from Poulin that the other two combined . Only gotten a couple from RIA and have yet to get the first thing from Morphy and it isn’t from lack of trying . Just my purse strings don’t open wide enough to get anything from Morphys .

Can anyone give us the information on the "no sales" at RIA or Morphy for this eight gauge?

I saw and handled it at the Vintagers. Next to the Grade 5 8-gauge hammer gun, the best Parker 8 gauge I've ever seen.

Apparently there is a big difference between a GH 8 and a DH 8. There will also be a bigger difference when Norman Strebe's CH 8 finally comes on the market. I think I will be bidding on that one. I haven't seen it since I was a teenager, but I liked it then and I will like it when it comes up at auction. Kevin, the Grade 5 eight gauge you saw is the best 8 gauge Parker in the country. I can only guess who owns it now.

Crosnoe has had a DH Titanic barreled 8 gauge listed for years now at 64k .

Yeah, Milton, what's that all about? You would think that by now someone would have been able to negotiate a deal. Apparently, Crosnoe is firm on his price. The 34 inch barrels and the flat rib were apparently worth a few grand to the buyer of the Poulin gun. I have always thought that 64 grand was a fair price for the Crosnoe gun.

Didnt a DH Titanic barreled 8 ga sell on GI about 2 years ago for around 29k? I love my Parkers and 8 gauges but if I had 65k to spend on a gun I would try to spend a bit more and have a WR Droplock 8 gauge built .

Milton, you couldn't come close. I think Watson Brothers may have prices posted for eights and fours.

There was a JW Tolley at the auction in Easton yesterday . Single barrel Jones underlever hammer gun but it was 4 gauge .

Milton, have you checked the Rock Island catalog? I thought I saw a WR 8. 8 gauge guns are certainly surfacing now, aren't they?

I know the WR starts at around 80k of course you may as well spend another 15k and get a set of 10 gauge barrels . Watsons only list a 4 bore it starts around 100k WR builds a 4 bore as well however Watson claims theirs is better proportioned . Ive just always had a thing for Westley Richards and have chatted with them before . They told me it doesnt matter if its a sxs they built in the 1880s they will make new parts/barrels whatever it needs . Im not sure if anyone else is willing to do that .

Ive seen there are alot of WW Greener 8 bores coming up for sale . I seen this one and really like it and its on the heavier side at 14lbs https://auctions.morphyauctions.com/_A__W_W__GREENER_8_BORE_HAMMER_SIDE_BY_SIDE_SHOTGU-LOT518439.aspx
Then theres this beast at 16lbs , I read Greener built a large frame 8 gauge so perhaps this is one . https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/84/401/ww-greener-8-bore-double-barrel-underlever-hammer-duck-gun
Right now though im not planning on buying I have just investing money for the long term. Has anyone looked at that 8 gauge LC Smith on GB ?

Pretty sure there’s a WR 8 and its estimate is much less than 60k…if memory serves me (which it sometimes doesn’t anymore).

So my memory is only half bad. The 8 bore I saw was a double rifle (high end estimate $40K), and there's also a bar-in-wood hammer 8 estimated at around $6K. I did not look them over at all, but they are there, along with quite a few other 8s. It really seems that the 8s are coming out of the woodwork. You guys are fueling a renaissance in the gauge.

It'll be a true Renaissance if we could get a run of proper shells made which I have already got halfway solved .

Craig, the Tolley four sounds like something you should have bought. Tolleys are great guns. I was at the gun show last weekend but forgot about the tailgate and the Guyette auction. Oh, well.

The Parker 8ga O grade hammer gun went for $6300 at the Guyette and Deeter auction.

OK, so Craig got the gun, but paid for it. In the pictures, it looks like a high condition gun with surface rust. Probably a trick of the camera. Maybe Craig will post pictures. What did the Tolley sell for?

What makes you think I bought the G&D Parker?? I have a nice O grade 8. I was just trying to do a public service by posting the price.

You're not the only Craig on this thread. :):) The "other" Craig, Craig Thompson, bought the eight gauge Parker.
