Thanks, Wayne. The gun I'm looking at is a VH 12 1-1/2 frame pistol grip. It appears to be original with a lot of original case color and well fitting wood. To all, could the serialization book be in error? Seems odd that someone would convert a VHE 20 to a VH 12. Since there has to be ejection hammers in a VHE, is it possible to convert a VHE to a VH by removing the ejector parts?

Not a mistake. VHE 20ga. with 28" barrels and a straight grip.

Members posting serial numbers on this forum make more mistakes than the SB. Just sayin'.

I went back to the shop that has the gun for sale. The trigger guard is engraved 204063 as I stated in my original post. However the frame, barrels, and forearm are stamped 205063. No records exist for the latter. The engraving of the S/N on the trigger guard is poorly done. Could this be common for a gun made in 1923? All of my guns are earlier and the S/N engraving is nicely done. It also doesn't seem to me that a mix up on the S/N's would be the 3rd digit of a 6 digit number.

Take out the trigger guard screw, carefully lift the guard out of its channel, rotate the guard CCW and look on the underside of the guard. The S/N or part of the S/N should be stamped in the metal. Hopefully the entire S/N is there

And the original serial number of the gun should also be stamped into the wood in the channel beneath the trigger guard tang.

My father has a VH 16 where the serial number engraved on the trigger guard has two numbers reversed. The number stamped on the underside and on the stock all matched. So a mis-engraved trigger guard is not out of the question but would be very rare.

Looking back at my old posts, I saw that I did not respond to Chuck and Dean's advice on removing the trigger guard on this serial number mismatch VH. The serial number on the frame, barrels, and forearm latch are stamped under the guard and into the stock wood channel. I believe the engraver just made an error on the outside of the guard. I purchased the gun early this year. I'll try to post a few pictures in the current thread on members 2022 Parker acquisitions.

See my post at the end of the thread. Tried to do a new post and copy the original thread but couldn't figure it out. Thanks.

All the serial numbers appear to be 205063 with the exception of the trigger guard bow which in as you stated 204063. 205063 is not in the book.
