Guys:

Would the group be open to a Fall SxS shoot at a great facility in Auburn Alabama on the football bye weekend in the fall of '22?

I've been talking to Auburn Oaks Farm(check their website www.auburnoaksfarm.com) and they would work with us to have an event. I would want to hold it on the 2022 bye weekend but an away game would work also. There are a boatload of hotels in town (half less than 5 years old) and prices would be reasonable on off weekends. I need some feedback on what type of event we would want to have. If you have an idea or suggestion, please let me know.

The earlier in the fall, the better. JMTCW. Too late and it has to compete with hunting seasons. That's a real problem for many of us.

Alabama is a bit of a hike from Savannah, but I would try to make it. Finding a weekend that does not compete with hunting, sports and other stuff is the challenge.

I bet there are a bunch of PGCA members and other double gun enthusiasts in that area that would come if the event were properly advertised and held on a weekend when conflicts were minimal

Keep in mind that the NSCA U.S. Open is May 16th thru the 22nd.

He's talking about a shoot in the fall, as I understand it, Tom.

Yes, in the fall as I don't want to compete with the Deep River Southern event. Football and hunting are the two biggest impediments to a potential date. The summer is the heat which doesn't start to dissipate until 9/1 which is the Dove opener. Maybe early spring, March is very nice here but weather dicey north of the Mason-Dixon line.

Also, how big an event? Just PGCA and other SxS shooters or the size of the aforementioned Southern?

Your thoughts please.

How's January down there? Asking for a friend. :)

Compared to where you live, it's down right balmy.

I went deer hunting close to Tuskegee one year in mid January which isn’t very far from Auburn . Anyway it was shirt sleeve weather that trip . So I’d assume September thru November to be a skoosh or more WARM .

It's high 70's in the day and down to high 40's at night. Almost winter! I was at the Tuskegee shooting range a few weeks ago. Way back in the forest that one.

I was at White Oak Plantation when down there . But I understand that place closed up a few years back .

Provided no major conflicts, I'd drive over.
