I want to put a recoil pad on a .410 double that I have but the grind-to-fit pads that I have seen in my search have been much too large. I am looking for a 1" thick pad and my stock is 1.44 wide and 4.61 tall where the pad would mate up to it. Anyone know of a pad made which would work without a ridiculous amount of grinding? Thank You.

The amount of grinding is of no concern, the issue is the screw spacing and if there is an air pocket in the middle of the pad and how big it is.

The best pad that I have found for small stocks is the Noshoc. It has the closest screw spacing of any out there, the plug holes are very small and it is completely solid with no air pocket. They are technically 7/8” thick. Close enough.

Thank You, Brian! Yes 7/8" is plenty good as I am just extending LOP for a better fit and to get rid of those horrid white line spacers. I found one. Thanks again!!

And if you do not like the noshoc logo on the back of it, it easily “shoe shines” off with emory paper and oil. To give a plain silvers pad look.

A 1922 Winchester pad is the same pad as the No Shoc. Used ones that meet your specs are easy to find.

The repro No-Shoc pad that Galazan sells is said to have a cavity 2 1/8 x 3/4. That pad is 5 1/2 x 1 7/8 with a 3 1/4 inch screw spacing.

I have a couple of NOS No-Shoc pads that are 5 x 1 5/8 with a 3-inch screw spacing and no cavity. Just waiting for some nice small bores that need them.

Pachmayr makes a Decelerator Youth pad 1 in thick with the same outer dimensions as their small pad but has 2 1/2 in hole spacing if anyone ever needs smaller hole spacing.
