AH Fox help needed

I have my eye on a possible purchase of a Fox. I am not sure what grade it is. The watertable has an "A" stamped on it (A Grade ? ) The side of the receiver has Ansley H Fox. The barrels are Krupp Fluid Steel and in another location Philadelphia Pa. It is a double trigger with extractors and a significant amount of case colors left (70%). The barrels are in good condition with minimal if any pitting (maybe on small spot). The lock up is tight and release lever is still right of center. The LOP is 13.5" on front trigger to end of wood and 14.5" to end of pad. The checkering is a little worn but still well defined and the wood on the pistol grip is darker than the but stock (oil absorbtion?) The serial # is 13xxx The seller is asking $550. Is this a good buy or should I pass? Thanks for any help.

Not as up on the fine AH Fox doubles as others here, but you might also want to use the Forum link to connect with the Fox Collectors Assn- we are fortunate as we have members here that also belong to that fine group of gents who appreciate fine American boxlock doubles--

All I can tell you is that this A grade was made prior to the USA declaring war on Germany after the Lusitania, due to German _U-Boat torpedoes, was sunk taking some 16 USA citizens down to a watery grave- After that the AH Fox Gun Co. was unable to get the fine Krupp Flusstahl (fluid steel barrels) and develop the fine Chromox Steel barrels instead.

If the gun is as you describe it....Buy it! Also you can go to the A H Fox Gun Collectors site and ask all the questions you need to. They are a great bunch of guy's and many are members of the PGCA too. In fact a few of us here are members of the AHFGC. I know I am.

Like Dave said "BUY IT". What you are looking at is a very early A Grade A.H. Fox. From the SN it probably dates to around 1915 while Ansley was still running the company. Google A.H. Fox Gun Collectors and you'll get on their site & forum. Does the gun have automatic ejectors? What is the gauge & barrel length? Straight stock or PG?

I believe the gun is a 12ga.
