Not sure that I've ever seen one come up for sale. Don't have TPS or serialization book with me, wondering how rare they are? Would love to see what one feels like with 28" legs on her.

I believe they’re fairly common. Maybe not as much as a 1 and 1/2 frame 12. But I don’t believe they’re rare. Some of the ones I’ve encountered weighed more than a 1.5 frame 12.

I have three that will be on the market in the near future. They might not be real common, but I wouldn't consider them as rare either.

Very common early on

A 1 frame 12g is by no means rare. But they are very nice guns if you want a lightweight 12g. But a shorter barreled 1-1/2 frame feels pretty much the same.

I am actually going to be donating a 1 frame 12g G grade for a raffle gun in the future. So, you could have the opportunity to own one for cheap.

That's right Mills. The 1-frame 12 was about as common as the 2-frame 12 in the hammer gun days. I have a beautiful Grade-4 12 gauge hammer gun on the 1-frame with 30" Bernard barrels.

Every Parker collector should own at least one #1 frame 12ga!!! I fell for a #1 frame CH circa 1891 many years back from Steve Barnett. 30"bbls, 7.4lbs, 038 min walls.

That's a beauty, Craig. I can see why you fell for it.

I have one hammer gun and 5 hammerless guns built on the 1 frame - grades one through 5. The lightest is a 7 lb. GH with 30 inch barrels (and letters as such). They are worth seeking out, and you will notice the difference in your hand.

Thank you everyone I would love that for grouse. Craig, that's a beauty! And Don, at 26" that is a grouse killer I'm sure. I have one on a 1 1/2 frame 26" barrels and not too awful heavy at all at 7lb 4oz or so, but below 7lbs I can't imagine it wouldn't be just magnificent to carry. I'll keep looking, and I'll be buying a slew of tickets Brian.

My 1918 26" damascus #1 frame GHE12 weighs 6#10oz and is one of my go to guns. I love that thing for hunting over pointing dogs in cover. I shoot very low power loads in it. It's not a stunner condition wise but has nice wood and sure is a great shooter. It's the perfect gun for anyone who thinks they might want a 16ga but don't have a 16ga press..... like me.... The recoil is less than with most 20's. The bbls look to have been cut, but it letters with 26" bbls.

I would sure like a GHE #1 frame 12 ga with 26" or 28" barrels. Straight stock would be even better....

was offered a 1 frame PH 12 with fishtail top lever and twist barrels several years ago. Should have bought it, but passed, cant remember the weight, but felt great.

A loong time ago I bought a refinished GH 12 on the 1-frame with 30” Damascus barrels and a fishtail lever. I shot it in the qualifying rounds for the PGCA/LCSCA Challenge cup and broke 18. I shot it at my club pretty often too but one night coming home from my club and going up the brick walkway to my house in the dark I tripped over a toy my grandson had left there. It got some damage but nothing that can’t be fixed… but I have not had it repaired. It sits in the back of my safe to this day…

Bruce I could get you close if it were for sale. GHE 12 with 28" barrels, 1 frame, 7 lbs. even. Barrels are to short for me but the condition attracted me. I did shoot a few pheasants with it last year.

Here's a unique 12ga 1 frame GH made in 1899 with 28 inch Damascus barrels, it now has 26 inch Remington 1/2 frame barrels and weights 6lb 11.6 oz.

I have a PH 1 frame with 26" twist barrels choked .012 & .024. It weighs 6-10 and has 2.5 DAH. It is a 12 that handles like a 20. Wonderful gun that is hell on doves.

I was in the safe today checking guns and this 1 Frame 12 GA DH reminded me of this thread. It has 2 sets of barrels numbered to the gun: 28" IC/F and 26" IC/M. Great modern dimensions of 14 1/4" LOP. and 2 1/2" DAH. It weighs 6lb 10oz with the 28" barrels. Thought I would share.

Wow Bob. How do some guns retain that barrel color or is something done to make them "pop"?? Gorgeous.

Andy,
The barrels have been redone. The little circle about an inch and a half in front of the dollshead is a giveaway.

Thank you. Who does that sort of beautiful work? Because of course I'm going to find a twisty barreled #1 frame 12 at some point, or maybe a small frame 16 (my favorite gauge)
