I recently bought a DHE 20 and have noticed a marking I cannot find an explanation for. I’m curious what the “I” stamped on the forward lug represents? I looked at my original Parker’s for comparison and also some research without any luck. I think it’s only on reproductions. Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance.

Set 1 of a multible barrel set. You should also see a 1 on the forend under the S\N.

I had the same question when I read the thread on unset serial numbers and you mentioned the gun you owned.

New member with same question - the "I" marking on the barrel lug.
My 20 gauge repro has it, my 28 gauge repro does not.
Both are single barrel sets, purchased new.
Thanks !

The "I" stamp is seen quite frequently and has been questioned several times what it means. Richard Skeuse (if anyone would know, he's one that would likely know) has responded that he doesn't know.
Here’s one of those threads that the “I” stamp was shown and discussed.
