I plan on attending my first SxS event in Georgetown SC this fall. Just curious how many other Parker shooters are planning on attending. Ive heard the fall event isn't as big as the spring one, but hopefully will still be a good turnout.

I plan to be there for the weekend. I've been several times in the past, but not for the last several years.

I plan to attend. Since moving south, the NE events are sadly too far to drive. However, I plan to attend the fall Southern, hopefully each year. Plus, I can take my GSP and hunt the same weekend. Are the course layout and target presentations similar to the Spring Southern? Can’t wait until October. I love the beach and fishing on the Gulf Coast but my poor dog suffers every time I open the cabinet and he is hoping against hope, is it time to hunt yet?!

I don't know personally about the fall classic, but I have shot many NSCA targets that Rick Hemingway has set and he is one of the best target setters we have here in the U.S.

Not only a great target setter, but also master of making a shoot run smoothly. Trap problems are almost non-existent at Rick's. He hosted the U S Open several years ago and it ran like a well oiled machine.

Dave and Danny Suponski, and I drove down from CT the year of superstorm Sandy. Backwoods is a well laid out course and I would love to go back. We had a great time.
My daughter was still in broadcast meteorology at the time, and working in Myrtle Beach, so we all got to sit around the motel room and watch her doing live shots from the beach.
As I recall, the drive North was a rush to beat the storm moving up the coast. With Dave behind the wheel, I got a real insight why he's so into motorports.

Rick is supposed to be up in VA doing a two day shoot in September which I plan on attending the second day . Think I might ask him if we can do an informal 8 gauge thing on his 5-Stand like in the spring at Sanford down at his place in October

Rick Hemingway’s Targets are different than the spring SxS. Challenging but fair & never repeats always fresh sets.

A lot of what I end up doing down there is going to depend on how hot it is . I got severely overheated 5-7 years ago and every year since then it seems to catch me quicker . Got slightly overheated Tuesday night at the local club shooting skeet and got slightly more over heated last night at the place I shot yesterday afternoon . This getting older stuff just plain sucks but on the other hand it beats the long term nap :crying:

I was near you at Central Virginia yesterday heat was brutal. We skipped stations in direct sunlight and drank plenty of water. Still cut the session short.

I got overheated Tuesday evening a bit at Piedmont then Wednesday evening I got overheated even more so at a little private shooting deal in the Fredricksburg area . Wednesday before I got on an even keel I’d drunk four bottles of water poured another over my head and drank a quart of something someone handed me with electrolytes in it . I got over cooked 5-7 years ago and ever since then it seems easier each year to get over heated .

Today instead of heading to the shop and doing some work my butt stayed at home on the couch in air conditioned pleasure :rotf: Sorry initially I misunderstood your question . I got a room at the Quality Inn .

Sunstroke victims are more prone to future hits. Ask me how I know. Actually, I read this somewhere, years ago after I had a sunstroke, but it seems to be a fact.

Shot the Fall Southern at least 7 or 8 years ago. Had a great time. Mike Smith and I shot so much that we had our own trapper. Won a lot of BLING! Took Susan along and we had a good time. Stayed at a B&B in Georgetown. Hit a different restaurant every night. I have classmates from HS in Myrtle Beach, Pawley's Island and had some in Savannah too so we had a mini-class reunion. My problem is we have been grouse/mudbat hunting in Maine in October so two long trips in the same month are very hard to do since we are still busy at "The Rock". We'll get there again sometime.

The fall SxS does not require advance reservations, able to look at the weather forecast couple of days before then plan travel. Rooms easy to obtain in Georgetown. It’s not just heat possible tropical storms too.

My opinion it’s one of the best SXS events. This from a shooting point of view.

Have not attended since TS 'Sandy"; a great venue with some very interesting target regimens per Rick! Never shot anything other than "try-a-gun" stands due to display or sales tables responsibility and presence. Stayed seaside in Georgetown proper about 35 mins. away from the shooting grounds (Holiday/Renassaince Inn?) and had our pick of 3-4 waterfront restaurants. Food was good to excellent at all depending on attention to details of grilling vs. pan sauteing of the super-fresh fish of the day. Delightful off-hours discovery was that the very small, tightly packed liquor store downtown on main street had a wonderful selection of various aged vintage single malt Scotches for your post-dinner palates - I was amazed to find a 17 year-old Brucchladeigh which we promptly "reduced to bag" and repaired to the hotel veranda ovelooking the water to enjoy with our Bolivar "Presidentes". Would enjoy doing it again.
