RE: my GHE 12ga hammerless

I just separated the receiver from the stock [thanks to Brian D for the heads-up]. Everything went well.. except the round metal rod that activated/deactivates the safety. I cannot get it out and don't want to force it.
It can only come forward.. but it won't come out.
Any tips?
Thx

The ferrule on top of the stock that the top tang bolt goes through screws out. Be careful not to damage it in the Procter. After that is removed, the safety actuation rod should come out.

Everything has been removed with exception of the actuation rod. It's the rod removal that I'm concerned about.
Based on your instruction, I should be able to pull the rod out.

Doesn’t the safety actuation rod need to be removed before the ferrule can be rotated?

Brian

Should I try to gently pull the rod out with a needle nose?

There are slots in the top of that tube. Use an appropriate sized screw driver to fit those slots without marring the wood. Unscrew it.

Success!
Thank you!
