Just received my Summer Issue 2021 and I’ve got to say it is certainly one of the best in terms of content, illustration quality and of informative and very interesting articles.

Congratulations to all of the contributors and the editors for a job very well done!!

Just out of curiosity can you get them via email yet ?

I ask because once I move to the Philippines it would be nice to still receive the periodical with out worrying about international mail .

Hats off to Andy and Gia. Great article!

I am the beneficiary of that day. She made my season if not my entire lifetime of seasons. I love her so...

That was the first article I read Andy. Great job! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Catchy title also, you had me guessing for a while. Only one I've read so far. Let's see, what's next :corn:

Yeah she told everyone she knew what she thought I shot. Surprised the NY Dept of Environmental Conservation didn't visit me :rotf:

We received ours yesterday and have really enjoyed it! Enjoyed Andy’s adventures with his daughter. Randy’s article on the long barrel GH is a great collecting/restoration piece which are fun. And Dean’s article on Woodcock guns touch’s on a favorite subject of mine. It made me kick myself again for not jumping on that short barreled lifter! Oh yeah, John Frierson’s article is a great piece on a great gun store with some Southern legends thrown in. Still need to read the rest . . . .

I read the entire thing in bed until about midnight. I have to say thank you to Sam and her sidekick Mike for editing this. I'm sure it's much more work than most people realize. Thanks Editors for making a FANTASTIC journal : )

Thank you to all the authors and to the editors for a very good issue. Andy Sacco you brought so many great memories of my sons tagging along from the time they were 10 until this last fall and now my grandson and granddaughter are with us also. I wish you many more days with her and your grandchildren and i hope the day comes when that 28 is ''her'' gun. I lost a Baretta 686 28 which is now my granddaughters gun.

Andrew Sacco

Thank you Daniel! At the rate I'm going I'm going to need a lot of grandchildren to pass these on to.

Thank you Daniel! At the rate I'm going I'm going to need a lot of grandchildren to pass these on to.

Younger son borrowed my 10 for turkey this week, a VH 12 goes with him on occasion and my granddaughter has told me my repro 20 is too pretty for her to carry in the woods, she would be worrying about it too much. They have all picked out 2 or 3 guns they like and use them from time to time but they bring them back,at least for now.

Got mine here in Wheeling, WV., yesterday, and read it on a rainy afternoon today. It hit me that I know most--but not all--of those who wrote articles, or were featured in the pictures.
I started off with Dean Romig's "My Perfect Woodcock Gun", and realized I have seen and held some of those.
On to Andy Cook's story of his hunt with his Parker and his daughter. Now Andy and I havent met, but we have exchanged pm's, and are both optometrists. Nice read Andy.
Shot quite a few rounds with Randy Roberts, Chuck Bishop, and Brett Hoops at Mike Koneski's last year. Perseverance pays off Randy.
Mills always comes thru, and I have met all in that group except Tom Wooden. Mills, what hardware store in Atlanta did that O frame VH 26" gun come from. My DHE O 16 came from Anderson Hardware in Atlanta, is also 26" cyl/mod and weighs 6 lbs on the nose--but my 1 frame VH 16 28" is definately a better pheasant gun.
When I think of big guns, Craig Larter comes to mind, and his treatise on the big 8 ga was well done.
Good job Mike and Sammy, hope to see all of you at Hausmann's.

Got mine in Virginia today !

Thanks Harold! It was Anderson Hardware I believe. It sat in my local gunshop about 2 years. I made the guy an offer and never got a response. Finally walked in, asked him what he could do, he told me and I laid down my card. Don’t think he thought I would bite.

That gun would be a wonderful grouse gun with those chokes and weight. I also have a VH20 26" that is cyl/mod and also is 6 lbs. I always figured my DHE 16 was some quail hunters gun.

Mills Morrison

There is a strong possibility I will take it woodcock hunting this coming season. It is a good quail gun

Mine came day before yesterday, but I didn't see it until I got home from the field that day. Yesterday morning it was in the cab of the John Deere with me. I'd turn her around, press the Autosteer button, and crack open Parker Pages. I read a couple of articles "between the ends". Until........ the rows got too short!

Great issue! Thanks to all who contributed, and especially to Mike and Sam.

Finally got mine today. One thing for sure is that we have some talented writers in this organization. Deans article on the perfect woodcock gun has me wanting to take my high condition Parker DHE-28 ga. skeet out in the field next woodcock season instead of my Beretta 20 over and under. Keep up the good work guys and am already yearning for the next issue!

I HOPE I get my issue tomorrow? It sounds like a great one, as usual..!

(Haven't missed one copy yet for my collection of them...)

I just came across another picture I should have included in my article “My Favorite Woodcock Gun.”
28 gauge VHE Skeet gun and woodcock primaries… the ones that “whistle.”
