Was this Parker really that bad to command only $1,200.00 plus premium

With the rifle sights and the unknown caliber rifle tube installed interest was apparently down

I’m with Randy. I saw it but couldn’t get past the possibly enormous gunsmithing costs to get it put right, if that was even possible.

In addition to the aftermarket and incorrect buttstock.

I thought that at first. But the more I looked at it, I think it is original, but just reworked. But it is very hard to tell from those auction photos.
The gun was not a bad buy if the barrels are good.

I don’t know the serial number or the YOM but the “bump” in the checkering at the top of the wrist should be round rather than pointed like a DH and the checkered cheek panels look to be rounded at the rear instead of coming to a more pointed end... but very early CH’s may be like this one and the little cove in the checkering above the grip cap seems to indicate an early gun.

Of course the checkering has been all messed up, badly. But I think that the wood itself may be original. But again, it is very hard to tell. At first I thought that the drop points were gone, but when blowing the photo up, it looks like they are still there, barely.

Serial # is 59126 for an 1890 YOM.

Thanks Randy - That explains a lot.
I would have looked in my laptop and reference books but I’m kinda laid up away from home at present.

And upon magnification, it has Bernard barrels.
