need a bot of info. I saw on guns international a redone parker trojan listed for 3600.00. I have always been told when a gun is re blued or the case coloring redone it takes away value. this price seems high to me. please give me a little education. I am new to Parker guns.

A 12 gauge Parker Trojan in decent original shape with uncut barrels is worth something less than $2000 generally speaking.
A "Redone" Trojan leaves a lot to the imagination and might have a following of only a couple of people... on a good day.

I saw the gun I think he's referring to, it's a 20ga, which of course adds to the price.
If it's the gun I am thinking of, it has suspect case coloring IMHO.
But, I could be thinking of a different gun.
I guess I'd think of it this way, if the gun makes you happy for the price they are asking for it, then it's worth that to you. But, I don't think of a refinished trojan as having any "collector" value. More of a shooting gun.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking the same as you. I recently purchased a 16 gauge vh in good original condition for a lot less than this 20 gauge Trojan. I do not think of the one I bought as a collector but as a shooter. Thanks again to all who gave replied.

Okay, a 20 gauge. That changes everything. 28" barrels are a premium for a Trojan 20 but 26" aren't to be sneezed at either.
Please post a link to that gun on GI so we can have a look.

THere is another restored Trojan 20 as well, but it's almost 4K.

I saw that $3600 one last night and it stood out as oddly too nice. Maybe the case colors threw me, or maybe something doesn't look right with the checkering. I'm learning this the very hard way, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it and I'm hoping in the future prices moderate a bit and there are some better values. Perhaps the nicest Parker I have ever seen was a 16g DHE that was in original condition with all case colors gone, a small chip in the stock, a bunch of dents and scratches and bluing rubbed off the barrels about 40%. But it had been hunted every season for 3-4 decades and was never rested and it was still tight. Beauty to me is a shooter that is affordable. I wanted the gun- no way he was selling it and he has about 50 of them. God I like these guns a lot.

I'd say both of those refurbished 20-gauge Trojans are a lot shinier than our friend the late Ed's benchmark original Trojan was.

I have owned and enjoyed re-done Parkers that were really nice but they did not look original. Since, they are gone at a good profit and I enjoy original condition. Two are Trojan 20's and people are really proud of them. Personally, I like original condition but the hunt for them is the fun and once you shoot a Parker, that really fits you, you are hooked for good reason. But, a well done redone Parker is still a Parker and if the price fits you, enjoy!

Are those colors torch made? I wish I was more astute on such things.

Yes, torched colors.

That's amazing that they could do that with a torch. Probably not good for the integrity of the metal.

Torched is offensive to my eye & that one is for sure.

I doubt that August Pachmayr ever had his hands on that Trojan.
