View Full Version : Parker Roll Pin Question

Is there any source for the specs for Parker roll pins? I'm thinking of having some made up but need specs for original dimensions. I know frame sizes make a difference but I might only do popular frame sizes of 1, 1 1/2 and 2. If there are any specs on the pins and screws too, that would be great!! This seems to be a simpler fix than the TIG weld and mill. THX.

I believe Brian may stock oversized replacements, ready for fitting.

I do believe he does.

I think Brian has three different sizes of the roll joint.
Do I know the gun you want to tighten up?

It wouldn't be the pin you'd weld up, it would be the joint roll.

You TIG weld the hook and to properly finish it you mill it down.

Just looking to keep some on hand or have some made. Most of my guns are 1 frames.

Then why are you talking about welding the roll pin, as you mentioned in your first post?

Wasn’t referring to the roll pin. Was referring to the hook. I may have been born on a Tuesday but it wasn’t yesterday!! :rotf::rotf:

BWAHAHAHA!! I use Clenzoil hinge-pin jelly. I have one that I temporarily attached the appropriate size shim to my hook to tighten it up. I’d rather change the roll pin. Always good to have extra pieces parts. You never know when a good deal will fall upon you.

I am reminded of a line from Judge Roy Bean: "What we have here is a failure to communicate" I guess it's that word PIN in the title.
Nice editing job. Fortunately, I wasn't born yesterday either, as you even wrote PIN in your reply. Good editing. So was it last Tuesday?

"What we have here is a failure to communicate"
Captain, as played by Strother Martin in Cool Hand Luke.
However, it was a Paul Newman movie.

Now it comes back to me. But I do remember the scene. Wasn't it some Judge or sheriff that yelled that line to Newman?

Neither. He was a prison warden. And, he was speaking to the rest of the chain gang of men while Luke stood by him in chains. Luke replied something like "Boss, you just got to quit being so good to me."
FWIW, I understood Mike was talking about welding the hook, not the pin.

I agree, despite him saying "Pin" a few times. Sometimes, even MudBatMan needs Robin to keep him honest.

I am getting the impression Mike would, in the presence of an old salt, drop his map on the floor on the left side of the boat. He would say that just to see the reaction of his victim, my kind of guy.

As for dropping a map/chart on the port side of a boat, you’ll have to explain that superstition to me. If I can’t wade in it I don’t go in it!!

Maybe you should write an article for PP. How about "The Meriden Mudbatman".

Great movie. The rest of the quote is "Some men just cain't be reached..." One of the most memorable scenes in filmdom. That was back when Hollyweird actually made good films.
